    Barbie's 120 gallon

Oh I'm sure he helped everyone. He's the greatest! He let me go, didn't he? hehe All joking aside, he was a real trooper about me taking this trip (pun intended). I am always glad to be home though, no matter how little sleep I got at the convention! I mentioned I was invited to do 4...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

The trip was fantastic ;). Hopefully your tanks and your patience survived intact, hehe. I'll be at the store Wednesday, along with all of the people Bob told to come back and check with me when I got home. My water changes are 1/2 finished so far and I'm finalizing fish orders. Hopefully...

    neodymium magnets

That works. I'll try to check into it a bit more while I'm stuck in airports I guess ;). The convention is always a total whirlwind from the moment you arrive. I spoke last time, so this time I just get to relax and enjoy. They already made a sign for our room door saying "Hospitality, Two"...

    neodymium magnets

I was going to use them to make frag plugs and I was thinking they had to be at least 1/4" thick by 1" or so to be effective on anything over 55 gallons. I'm still looking for more info though, so I planned to try a few sizes. This week is that Catfish Convention so I'll be in Baltimore until...

    neodymium magnets

I'd like to try a couple sizes of the coated ones, I think. How many were you thinking? I'm afraid I'll go mad with them if they work the way I think they'll will :p. Barbie

    neodymium magnets

I'll go in on an order for these, if you'd like. I've been thinking of doing a couple projects with some and had been doing research on types. Too funny that you're looking for them too :p. I figured I needed more projects for all that spare time I've got kicking around ;). Barbie

    300G in-wall Build...still working on it!

OMG! Fabio, I love it! That actually made me laugh out loud when I read it, hehe. He truly is a sexy beastie. I'm glad to hear they're still doing good. I hoped they'd do awesome in your tank. And for anyone just reading this thread, that terrible picture I took doesn't begin to do their...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

LOL Spare time? I was up at 3 am uploading those silly pictures. I have SO much to do to get ready for my trip to Baltimore and I was worried about getting too far behind on updating this thread ;). You know you have fishues when....! :p I'm happy with my tank, definitely, but I think I'd...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

The issue is just me being indecisive ;). I don't think the corals would have minded at all if I hadn't scorched them :p. I'll get it figured out, but I appreciate the offer! I don't think the actinic is the issue at all, to be honest. Barbie

    Fish pedicure

The funny part about this is that I had a friend who hunted frantically to find 200 of these fish for his brothers wife to use in her spa. She was obsessed with the idea of being first to have them in her town. Now their state has copied WA's ruling on them and she has 200 ugly little brown...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

It HAS HO T5 actinics ;). These are Coralife 14k bulbs. I can't remember which ones the 20k were, honestly. I've already turned off the lights downstairs, but I'll drag them out tomorrow and look at them. Oldtimers, donchaknow! I love the 14k of the Current 150 watt bulbs. I might have to...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

Just a short update on this thread. I think these bulbs are not quite enough blue, compared to the others being too much, but I'm going to tough it out for a few months and see if I get used to them. I didn't lose any colonies with the timer snafu, but I had some pretty significant browning...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

I'm supposed to count? ;) I guess I'll have to do that. Probably 25 or so, without the ricordea I added last week. I picked up a really nice small blue colony and one that's an almost dark teal green. It's hard to describe, but hopefully I can get pictures when I get home from Dallas so I...

    Where did I go wrong??

A small amount of ammonia isn't a "cycle" it's the system adjusting to nutrient being introduced. Without adding something to eat in the tank, you aren't getting waste. Adding snails or clean up crew added something making ammonia. .25 is NOT a cycle, it's a reading showing you're getting...

    Where did I go wrong??

Patience ;). The pH will drop. The tank is just new and there's nothing to defeat the buffering capacity. The chaeto will help with the nitrates, it just takes a little time is all and your water changes will keep pushing them down slowly. This is the cycling process and why you didn't want...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

I wish it was because they were mutant ninja snails. I'm usually just trying to rescue the stupid things for letting go when they shouldn't ;). That's actually something nice with the bare bottom at least, when they fall off, the sea swirl blows them up against something solid most of the...

    Ty's 180g Reef

Those are gorgeous Tyler! Great job! If you want to test drive a macro lens with your camera, just bring it one of these times and it can help you decide whether or not you want to upgrade. Be warned, I should never have gone and played with the one at Huppins. It was an all out quest to get...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

The two green A. yongei "leprechaun" colonies in the pictures were some that Brandy was kind enough to sell me cheap because one was threatening her favorite, so it had to go ;). I practiced my sharing skills and let a friend have one and kept the other, hehe. The other "frags" were definitely...

    Barbie's 120 gallon

LOL Krish! I know, I'm sorry, I've been a terrible slacker lately! Oh wait, no, I've just been swamped, but hey, I get an E for effort now, right? ;) Barbie

    Barbie's 120 gallon

Thanks guys :). I think it actually looks like a big mound of rock without much "shape" but I wanted to maximize the surface to attach corals to and I had that awesome huge Marshall Island stuff to work with. It's quite impressive in person. I was amazed how full it looked after adding just...
