    FW planted tank

I just noticed this thread. Do you still need plants? I could probably thin a bag or two out of my planted tank. Are you looking for anything in particular? Barbie

Getting a volitans to eat after surgery

Just as a little additional information here, the original plan was to start the lion on metronidazole injected shrimp (shrimp is his favorite food usually) and he DID eat the first day after we had to remove that leg. I had asked a vet friend of mine what the recommended antibiotic would be...

    Copperbanded butterfly and sps?

If you have an LFS near you that sells live blackworms for fw fish, CBB's seem to readily take to them as a food source. They are high in fat and actually very nutritious for a FW food, and once they eat them, they then will usually take frozen bloodworms, also. Just a thought. I've seen...

    Great Conference!

Thanks Zul! I thought the two pictures of the tangs were from your tank! I also got a nice full tank shot or two I could probably email you the files for, if you were interested? Feel free to pm me the address :). Barbie

    Great Conference!

I have to agree, thank you so much! Jenny and I had a blast and really enjoyed getting to see everyone's tanks and livestock. Feeling like a winner with the raffle didn't hurt much either! Now if only Nacho hadn't crowded in the ticket line! :p Congrats on that pump again Nacho! I guess...

Barbie's 37 gallon cube (dialup beware!)

It's a Canon Digital Rebel. Once I can afford lenses, and I can remember enough from those two years of photography in high school, I might actually get a bit dangerous with it! Who knows, maybe I could even shoot stuff in manual! hehe. The gobies are doing great now. They come right out...

Barbie's 37 gallon cube (dialup beware!)

OK, took a few more pictures to add. Bought trimma gobies and a purple acro from Kevin the other day. The gobies have finally decided the cardinals aren't as scary as they look ;). Barbie

Barbie's 37 gallon cube (dialup beware!)

That depends, do you have the pink corvette? I've got the jeep now, so that would make it an upgrade! hehe I think I'd be hard pressed to find a hubby with more understanding about my fish obsession than the current one, truth be known ;). Thanks for the offer though! Thanks for the kind...

Barbie's 37 gallon cube (dialup beware!)

(the slimer in this picture was too high in the tank during my vacation, he's been moved down and is much happier and returning to normal color) Thanks for looking! Barbie

Barbie's 37 gallon cube (dialup beware!)

I just recently set up a new reef tank. I haven't had one up in 3 or 4 years, so this has been a fun step for me to get back into it. The 37 is going to stay a tank for SPS and I have a 75 full of cured live rock, just waiting for a sump/refugium so it can become a softie haven. The 37...

    refuguims and green hair alage

If you keep your alkalinity up, and reduce nitrate levels in the tank system with water changes to balance the trace elements, you should see a noticable drop in the hair algae within a month or two. You don't mention any of your levels, but that method has served me well over the years. Hope...

    Remora pro skimmer help needed

Or the better option, IMO, would be to buy the surface skimmer box for it, so you get the surface skimming, and support under the Mag 3. Mine works great that way. My only complaint is that you can't prefilter it at all that way. Guess that rules out neon gobies for that tank! Barbie

    mixing tangs

If you try to stick to the rule of 1 tang, or 3 tangs, with the yellow, purple, or powder blues added in the last addition, you should be alright. This is, of course, dependent on whether or not your tank is large enough to keep 3 tangs long term. Two tangs just never works over time, IME...

    Cycle/Liverock ?? for 180 gal

If you didn't already buy the cured live rock, you might buy the uncured first, cure it, then infuse it with some cured stuff that will hopefully bring in yet more organisms that wouldn't be nuked if you do get a big spike from your uncured stuff. Just an idea anyway ;). Barbie

    Pinched Mantle

I'm not sure if any of this information will be of any help at all, as it pertains more to freshwater protozoa, but I thought I would go ahead and share anyway, just in case. There are a few freshwater fish that are highly susceptible to protozoal infections, primarily from hexamita. Usually...

You used to be able to drop them on a greyhound bus for same day arrival, but I have no idea if you still can. Barbie
