    Nice! Ok now I'm feeling much better about the drain size! I'm still hunting for a local place for pvc. I might go back to home depot and ask again. The guy I spoke to said he wasn't the plumbing guy. Does anyone happen to have pictures of there plumbing? Place to get cheap sand in canada?

    Thanks I thought I had read everything on that site! I don't know how I missed that. Regarding the pvc at home depot....they did in fact have some but it was all like 3 and 4 inch elbows and T fittings...much too big for my application. I might try to find a local guy if someone doesn't have...

    Wow!! I just have to say I spent the day reading your thread and I have learned sooo much. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all there replies. I will be starting my 90 gallon shortly and perhaps I will make a thread similar to this. Great job Carlos!!

    Thanks guys for all the info!! Its amazing how fast you can go from afraid to even look at tank to finding yourself at home depot buying fittings! I feel so much more comfortable with everything now. Now I just have to find a cheap place to buy live rock in the GTA that stuff is BIG bucks...

    You guys are the best I swear!! So now what about plumbing? for a basic set up what would I need....Is it just a straight tube that runs into the sump? or is there some type of check or shut off valve inbetween? Return pump size? type of nozzle ? I don't even know what I am asking anymore...

    Thanks lizard! The thought of a flood has been pecking away at me too so I hear what you are saying. I guess only time will tell. Does anyone else have any experiences with either of these methods?

    Thanks guys! yeah I thought 150 was a bit much too....I'm leaning towards the external overflows I think it might be a little easier to not have to take the tank over to the lfs. For a sump I was thinking of grabbing a 30 gallon glass tank and making my own...I saw a really cool link...

    I have decided to start a saltwater tank. I have a 90 gallon aquarium and need some advice on which skimmer I should go with....I'm not sure if I will have a sump at this point or not......so I'm open to all recommendations I'll be starting the tank as a FOWLR Thanks guys!
