    My 24g JBJ Nano Cube

Thanks! The skimmer is made by a company called Sapphire Aquatics (sapphireaquatics.com) specifically for these cubes. It actually sits inside of the second chamber without the need for any modifications whatsoever. Here's what it looks like sitting in there:

    My 24g JBJ Nano Cube

    Pod Culture Questions

Thanks for the reply. I've read some things that suggest introducing other types of pods to a copepod culture will slow the reproduction of the copepods so I turned away from the idea of introducing macros (and thus hitchikers) based on that. The sponge is an interesting idea. Might give that...

    Pod Culture Questions

Hey everybody. I've ordered some pods from oceanpods and am starting a culture when the arrive next week. I have a fairly standard set up ready to go and will be using a 2.5 gallon tank with a small air pump split off into 2 lines, etc. To the question though, I was thinking over ways to...

Upgrading Tank, Need Help With Transfer Plan

What if I was to only fill the new tank half way with water, transfer the sand over, then do a 95% water change? Don't mean to sound like Im ignoring your advice...just thinking more about what's in there. In addition to the other critters I also have a bunch of snails that bury themselves and...

Upgrading Tank, Need Help With Transfer Plan

Thanks for the reply. What about all the life in my sand? Is there a way to save it if I don't reuse it? I've got tons of good critters like spaghetti worms, peanut worms, mini brittle stars...things that don't necessarily come off every batch of rock.

Upgrading Tank, Need Help With Transfer Plan

I'm upgrading to a larger tank and am trying to figure out the best way to do it. Fortunately, a fellow member here has been kind enough to let me have some live rock and sand from his system so there won't be any issues with having to cure anything...just the logistics of it all to deal with...

    Bad light in Aquapod

They're awesome. Just placed my 4th order with them 5 minutes ago ironically.

    Anyone seen these nano cubes?

I looked at them a little bit. They seem really well made and have some nice features, but also some drawbacks. Principle issues that turned me away were completely insufficient lighting on the 29 (and no aftermarket upgrade kits available as of yet) and the absence of hinges on the hood (if you...

    Fission Skimmer

Don't do it man! lol I was a sucker for the fission scam when I set up my 12 gallon cube. They don't work. Not even a little bit. Only upside is that you can use the pump to mix your change water when you throw the rest in the garbage.

Can anybody help a poor soul out with an issue?

I had a lingering cyano problem that sounds similar to what you're seeing (except mine was mainly red). Tests won't help much as I understand it because the cyano sucks up any nutrients in the water immediately. My solution was to address the issue (which I did by thinning out the tank...

Leather with Brown Spot on Edge

Thanks for the reply. I did end up cutting the spot, but ended up with a few more shortly thereafter and ended up taking the leather out. I think it was a combination of several of the factors you listed. It was in a bad spot as far as flow is concerned and I'd consider it highly probable that...

Thanks. It'll be interesting to see how it does!

    ID Please

Couple more, might help a bit. Pretty sure it's a monti, and pretty sure it's toast with my PC lighting, but was just curious.

    ID Please

I would agree with you completely if I was wondering what the candy cane I bought was. I might not have been really clear with my question (and my crappy pic probably didn't help much)...what I actually was wondering about is the disc shaped hard coral attached to the middle of the lower left...

Got it as a hitchiker on the candy cane. Guessing some sort of Montipora. I know...my camera sucks. Thanks!

    Superglue Gel Underwater?

    Thank you!

    Superglue Gel Underwater?

I've read a few places that superglue gel can be used to glue underwater. In this case I have a candy cane coral that I want to attach to a piece of rock that I can't remove from the tank. My plan is to put a few dabs of glue onto the base of the coral while it's out of the water, then place...
