Will this leathe coral work in my Fish only tank?

There is a possibility of some of your fish nipping, but many of the leathers are noxious enough that most fish will leave them alone

Need help id'ing this new SPS addition-seriatopora/porites? LFS brown bargain pickup

From that pic its hard to ID, but to me it looks like a hydrocoral/fire coral. Are there visible polyps at the tips? If so, Its an acro, and maybe symplix as Cy stated. If no polyps, then I stand behind the hydrocoral ID. If so, keep it away from all other corals, and if you have sensitive skin...

    Clownfish eggs - now what????

I have raised a few fry (few thousand). The book clownfishies by Joyce wilkerson will help A LOT. As for rotifers, as I said in the thread below, its actually very simple. Here is your thread http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36339 After you get a few to hatch, and the...

    Another Anemone Q/A

I cant say that I have ever heard of an LTA (M.doreensis) splitting naturally. The only hosting species of anemones that commonly spli naturally are BTAs (E.quadricolor) and on occasion H.magnifica.

ever heard of a banggai cardinalfish hosting a sebae?

With my first spawning pair, back in 96-97. Morgan Lidster of Inland Aquatics told me to get a LTA (M.doreensis) anemone for my baby banggai. Yes is been witnessed in aquaria many times

    Clownfish eggs - now what?

Rotifers arent hard (their actually simple) but getting them "going" takes a little time. Feeding the rotifers can be the hard part. They feed on phytoplankton. Many people culture their own phyto, but to me its not worth it.. I feed my rotifers the algae paste from Reeds mariculture (rotifer...

    Schedule 80 vs schedule 40

I agree.. sch 40 is way more than enough for our applications. Not only is sch80 more money, but also has thicker walls which means less flowthrough :D. Seriously, probably not that much thicker to where it would actually make a difference, but when sch 40 will do...

    True or False Clownfish

Boomer, I wasnt saying that you dreamt them up, just that I had never heard of the pointing finger. After raising a few thousand percula clowns and seeing many without a pointing finger at adult/sub-adult age, I just wanted to point out that the pointing finger isnt always a fool proof way of...

    True or False Clownfish

As Boomer pointed out, the spine thing is not always true because they overlap (9/10 - 10/11). The pointing finger is a new one on me, and still doesnt hold water IMO/IME. The baring can and does vary from fish to fish. When I have new hatches, the baring will always be different. Sometimes...

    Anemone on DSB

there are anemones that prefer the rocks (H.mag, E.quad, etc..) and anemones that prefer the sand (M.doreensis, S.hadoni, etc..) and a few that will do both ( H.crispa, etc). If your mag or BTA (e.quad) is in the sand bed, you can be assured that the anemone is in bad shape and wont be around...

    Anemone ID / Clown Hosting

I was 12 for 13 :D. I would have guessed #3 as an E. Quad. But as you said, they were all lucky guesses, because IDing and anemone from the top down/color is usually not goingto turn up a proper ID :D Thanks Max

    Plumbing questions

Definitely go with a 1" drain. For the return.. I like the flexibility of going over the top.

Cy, can you get a look at the underside of the oral disc to see the color of the verrecue. Or can you get a few more pics if the anemone hasnt sold yet Hadoni anemones are much more prone to eating fish that giganteas. S.hadoni will sometimes even eat clowns that arent normally found in hadoni...
