    bloat

Just thought I'd update the outcome. The little goldflake recommenced feeding a few days into antibiotic treatment and is now looking really good. Theres no signs of the bloat at all! So while she still has some time yet before she completes quarantine I am very impressed with her...

    bloat

Thank you both for your replies. Lee there is no poop irregularity that I can see.I have added maracyn2 to the tank. However this morning there is an interesting development: the fish is periodically twitching and scratching. Still can't see any external spots. My question is would it be...

    bloat

I have tried to take a photo but she hides... have not undertaken any treatment but do have prazipro. As an aside I thought prazipro in solution was ineffective against internal parasites??? I can certainly use it if required???? Am at work now but tried to feed her this morning before I left...

    bloat

Three weeks ago I purchased a 5cm goldflake angel who appeared in good condition and has been eating exceptionally well ... This week she seemed to be getting stockier . Unfortunately I don't think she is fat - after viewing her closely today I am sure she is bloated around the abdomen...

    Worming meds

Hi Lee, Last year I bought Jungle Anti-Parasite Medicated Fish Food as recommended in your poop snoop thread. Now I recently suggested this to a friend who said its no longer in production???? If correct, is there an equivalent product with similar ingredients? thanks for...

    Aussie fish list

Cairnsmarine.com are a large Queensland collecting outfit. They only wholesale so you can't deal with them direct but they list 90% of collected species under the Atlas heading. That should give you an idea of whats readily available from them in the US. There are also some local rarities that...

problems with copper test kit availability

Hi lee, There has been a change in availabilty of salifert and seachem test kits locally. Salifert is only available online andthe kits I have recently received are already expired and therefore useless. The lastseachem test kit - which doesn't have an expiry date - doesn't read the reference...

Achilles Tang undergoing Hyposalinity: what are these marks?

Hi Lee, A good friend of mine is having a problem with his new Achilles and I am posting on his behalf due to unreliable net access ATM. I have canvassed as much information as possible, so here is his summary: Fish: Achilles Tang approx 13cm, the only fish in treatment. QT Water Parameters...

    Regulating worm numbers

Hi Leslie, Let me start by saying I actually enjoy all the various critters in a reef tank. We're lucky to be able to access high quality LR with very little die off and so end up with a diverse population of worms and other critters in our tanks. Generally speaking, worms are seldom a problem...

    Abnormal flame angel behaviour

Well time for another update. The unusual behaviour has started all over again, beginning a week ago. The tank is still very stable, his diet is excellent and he still dominates his environment. Despite close inspection I can't find any physical signs of injury, parasites etc... he just looks...

    hyposalinity treatment questions

The fish died after a few hours ago. Her breathing was definitely worse. But she couldn't maintain buoyancy and kept headstanding and floating horizontally. She did this at the bottom of the tank, not the top.:( RE: the pH. I would buffer the water to be changed daily with sodium carbonate...

    hyposalinity treatment questions

Well, time for an unfortunate update. Don't think parameters are the problem. Theres no detectable nitrite, ammonia and the sg has been pretty steady since my OP at 1.009, with pH running at 7.8 The fish has still been battling the infection but this morning appeared noticeably worse. It was...

    hyposalinity treatment questions

Hi Lee On weds I received a fish that appears to be well infected with MI. By Saturday the sg was 1.011 in an established HT. Today its 1.010 and I'd like to verify my calibration before taking it down further. Yesterday the fish appeared to have collected new trophonts (or they just became...

    Abnormal flame angel behaviour

Time for a progress report. :) The food was stopped the day after the initial post. A series of large water changes was done over a period of a week, effectively replacing the entire tanks water. However, the behaviour continued and even intensified, reaching a peak around the New Year. Then...

    Abnormal flame angel behaviour

I don't think theres a stimulus??? The flame was fairly local - from Vanuatu - and was purchased as an adult. I recently had some corals spawn, but suspect this was programmed long ago fom cues received in the wild. The tank doe get indirect daylight and the days are cerainly long ATM. Part of...

    Abnormal flame angel behaviour

OK. I will stop the mix & replace it with a commercial preparation & 'wait & see'. I've tried observing his body with an opthalmoscope when he's at the algae clip, mainly because I could change the mag to zoom in on an area. I can't see anything odd there, but am keeping a good eye on him...
