Hey all

I haven't posted much here lately. So I will post up a few shots from tonight. I ended up knocking down a false wall and reconstructed it to place a 90G R/R in the wall. I have a 40G breeder that will be setup in a sump/fuge combo. I am not much for taking pictures of the process but will post pictures every now and then. It will be a slow process so don't expect much all at once.

Don't mind the clutter.... It's still technically a storage room/tank room.
Thanks,
Derrick

That is a great start Derrick,

Are you going to run some more elec. boxes?
Also are you going to vent some air thru the room?

I do plan on having an electrical station mounted on the wall for all electronics/electrical equipment that can reach that far out of the way for organization. I have plenty of power that is going to be redirected to that room. Looking at 2x 4 receptacle boxes... so 8 receptacles total. I shouldn't need much more than that. I can always use a reef keeper setup with their power strip.

As for air movement, yes I will be installing a overhead fan running on a humidistat and there will be to vents near the floor to allow fresh air from the adjacent room into the tank room. I plan on using RapidLED Onyx kits, 2x MP40's, a high end skimmer, 500GPH (roughly) return pump, kalk supply with ATO. More details to follow as time progresses.

I will most likely stick with 3"4" of sand/crushed coral. Never did a bare bottom before. I like the natural sea bed look.

I say glass walls don't look natural so no need to add sand :p

Looks like it will be a nice setup! Tagging along. :)

Great progress!

I have to ask about doing maint. on the DT from the back side of the tank. Will the sump be in the way? Looks like it will be a shin buster. LOL
Can you remove the 2x4s that are at the rear of the sump and gain another 1 1/2''?? Then maybe add another 1 1/2'' to the back side of the stand so it would possibly bring the face of the sump flush with the added framing?
Just thinking out loud here bud.

I can remove a few 2x4's Peppie but my concern is the vertical strength of the stand holding all that weight. I do have a short ladder that straddles the 40G Breeder sump with no problem. Yes it will be a shin buster as you put it but the room is not a normally accessed room. I welcome your out loud thinking at all times!

I figured you had a solution, and knew what the situation was creating.
The 2x4s under the "window sill/pass thru" in the divider wall, are more than enough to hold the weight of the DT, + some.

I thought so bought its just that much more assurance that everything will hold up. You should have seen my 180G stand I made a few years ago out there in Silverdale. I am not kidding when I say it could hold a small-mid size car easily. Way over kill and was about 200lbs alone.

Oh dont kid yourself. That stand could have held a 1ton truck!!!

The wall under my 210 has less 2x4's than the one under your 90. If you need or want to remove a couple to get the 40 further back don't hesitate. You've heard it from two "experienced" builders now.

Yea your probably right IPisces... built to last I suppose.

Thanks for the information, I will see what I will do about the 2x4's over the next week or so.
