Not to Hijack Alberto's thread, but how would I check?

Look for 12awg wiring & 20amp breakers on those outlet boxes, still not sure why he would want to hard wire them directly to the breaker, other than preventative medicine, which if the wiring was braded, I'd probably just use the plugs, maybe tie-wrap them down.

Looked at the DJ units. They were tempting, but then I would ahve had to wire those to outlets and make outlets coming off the new breaker boxes.

The new breaker box has no outlets coming off of it. These strips will be that, so I did not want to have to wire too many things. This way it is neater. I also have to account for the timers I will use and possibly X-10 stuff at some point. This leaves me much more room to do things. That is the only reason really.

Hey thanks for your explenation about your cube. That sucks, I am sorry that your tank was such low quality. I am going to keep on working on convincing my wife that I really do need another fish tank. I am lucky that I can just build it my self and not depend on anyone else to get it done on time, or worry about if it will leak. He should definately give you a refund or a new tank, that is total bs.

I have not got around doing that yet. The pumps that were heating up the water were the close loop pumps, so I took them offline and sent them to be replaced. The new ones should be here in about 10 days. Given there is nothing but a clown fish and a mystery wrasses 1.5" long in the tank, it won't bother anything.
Alberto,
I think you will like what Sequence sends you back. I sure do. :)
I have more flow and quieter and much cooler. Love the tank Buddy.

I sincerely hope so. I originally wanted the 1000 series and I was talked out of them to try these "new, equal, and cheaper" models. Now, I am sending pumps across the country to hopefully get what I originally wanted in the first place. I seriously hope it works out as advertised and as planned. I will keep you posted.

Alberto,
It cost you time and a little agravation. I bet you got your 1000 series pump cheaper than you originally would have. Price the difference in what you paid for your pump and what it cost to get the 1000 series, Add in the shipping on your pump and the price of upgrade and compare. I hope it was cheaper than the original price of the Seq5000 pump. I know mine was. Cheers Buddy!

If the CL pump was the one connected to the spray bar It may be that the spray bar needs more holes drilled to it. I think

How was it moved??

I can't believe I completely forgot to put a link tot he thread I had posted elsewhere describing how I managed to move such a large tank. Rather than putting up the entire thing here again, I will put the link below and you can read it there. It is pretty interesting and also will help a great deal, especially to those contemplating a large tank like this one.

Update

Well, after thinking about the light rack and considering 6 vs 5 reflectors, I decided to go with 5 instead. Number of reasons:

-half of the light from the 2 end reflectors were getting wasted really.
-less electricity consumption
-less heat production
-likely unnecessary and wastefull actually
-can blend in different temperature lighting better.

I also decided to go with three 400 watt XM 10000K and two 400 watt radiums 20000K bulbs instead fo the all radiums as I had originally planned. I will however try all radiums first and see what it looks like with these reflectors as I have never used them in that combo before. After that, I will order the XM bulbs.

Also, just received my first of 2 GEO media reactors. I already owned an oversized version of his largest Ca reactor and the kalk reactor, but added these other 2 media reactors to basicly fluidize carbon and phosban.

Calcium reactor 8" diamter chamber and 36" tall with a little giant pressure rated 2MD pump. It takes about 50+Lb of media to fill. I plan to use the schuran reactor media this time around to see how it works.

This is the media reactor 6" diameter by 24" tall. Great workmanship as always. Look forward to putting this online and crank it up.

I will post pictures of the kalk reactor later. It is 8" by 24" tall and works better than anything I have seen. Certainly a great replacement to the previous piece of junk kalk reactor I had before.

Good Work Geo!

I ahve never been one to get excited about the looks of the equipment so long as the functionality that was advertised is there. However, I have to tell you everytime I get a new piece of equipment from him, I get blown away witht he quality of the work. If you knew me, you would know how picky I am about everything, yet I can't find anything in the workmanship or functionality to complain about.

As promised, here are the kalk reactor pictures. 8"x24" chamber.

That last picture shoows the drain on the side. It comes really in handy when trying to clean the reactor. You can drain the water rather than trying to pick up the entire thing full of water and kalk. Very nice unit and powered by a MJ1200. This is a beast to say the least.

UPDATE

Well, today I spent most o the day doing some electrical stuff that in all honesty I could have done a long time ago. As you probablyr emember from the begining page, I ahd a professional electrician install a separate breaker box for the tank equipment. It has a 25A breaker 220v for the chiller and four 20A 110v breakers for the rest of the equipment.

One of te things I hated about my previous set up is that all the electrical stuff was all over the place. Even when I labeled most things in case something would happen when I was out of town, I felt it was very messy. This time, I labeled every single thing I could so that even if I paint it black Stevie Wonder can find it in the dark!!

Above you can see the 4 cables from the power strips below going into the wall and into the breaker box to be hard wired in place. That silver box all it does it cover the hole I had to put in the wall to inside the breaker box.

Also, you can see the pipe carrying the wires coming off the reflectors through the wall and into the garage side. Most, if not all wires will be hidden inside PVC pipes. At least the ones I shouldn't have to remove for any reason other than some major unforseen case.

The long vertical pipe you see where wires are coming off the bottom is the one carrying all the wires from the reflectors. It will house the wires from the close loop pumps, return pumps, and the actuated ball valves too.

It does not cease to amaze me how tedious most of these things are. I don't find them difficult, but they are time consuming as heck. I hope the end result is a good one and for a long time because I don't have much patience or en energy left to dedicate to "fixing".

Well, the get a side ways thumb for now as I havn't received them yet. They shipped out to me last friday, so I expect them to get here tomorrow or the day after. I'll update when I get them.

Wow.....and you said I had been busy!! Dude, did you get a schematic to go with all that plumbing??

On a serious note here, I see the unions in a couple of pics, but have you given any thought to eventually being able to do maintenance to the plumbing, (for build up of calcium deposits etc), or is this something you've even thought about/care to deal with?

Just curious, becuase I cant see anything you've forgotten yet...maybe I'm just jumping ahead a couple of pages...sorry.

WOW!WOW!OMG!Alberto I"m sure you'll have enough room to swim and place your corals without using a ladder!
I'm so happy for you man! You're tempting me to do the same when I move to florida next year.
I can see you planned this project very well in advance and that's the right way to do it.
Is a generator in your future plans too?I'll tell i'm a little scare not to have one connected to a reef tank.Remember the hurricanes?
I gotta keep checking this thread often it's very interesting and educational.

Alberto, glad to see you started a thread for this awesome project. It looks like things are coming along very well so far. I do have a couple questions. Are you going to be using any GFCI's? Also, what was wrong with your CL pumps? Were they the Valueflo's? If so, were you able to get them replaced? You know I got the short end of the deal with my valuflo's. I'm still very happy with the 6000's that I replaced them with.
