Hello everyone!

My name is Joshua. I just moved to Washington for a job with the fine folks at Barrier Reef Aquariums! You can view a short highlighting Bio of my saltwater career on the Barrier Reef Aquariums website, along with a awesomely creepy picture of myself, I might add. :loco: I will be posting pictures and details of the nano i recently set up at home.

I am looking forward to being a part of the community here,

Joshua

Hey, Welcome Joshua. So where did you move here from?
Looking forward to seeing your tank. We will see you in november!

Welcome Joshua to RF! I'm sure I will see you at the store.:bounce:

Thanks you guys. Right now I am running a 5 gallon "EcoPico." There are 2 of the powerheads that come with this aquarium including their sponges. I think i will be running a Phosban 500 reactor externally in the long run. I also upgraded the lighting to a Par38 pendant and probably adding a second sooner or later. A weekly water change is enough maintenance for now. It is also being monitored by a ReefKeeper2 ...no such thing as overkill . Experimenting to see if i can keep it stable enough for some acros ...aaaaaand start flaming! lol

IPisces: I look forward to meeting you at the sale. Should be really awesome!

lol yea i get asked that a lot. Just another place to experience, but its not an easy place to leave, thats for sure.

on a tank that small, well seasoned cycled rock and very regular and frequent water changes is pretty much the trick.

Joshua, are you going to have a fish in yours? I have a little tiger goby and a phantom anemone shrimp and a peppermint shrimp in mine.

Not too worried about the biological filtration. When I set it up I used seeded sponges, all cured and mostly seasoned live rock, live sand, and water from one of the tanks here at the store. It ran for a week and a half before anything went in. pH has been stable and no nutrients present. Diatoms have also almost cleared as well. I do a partial water change once a week.

I have a blue line pipefish that i am waiting to get to a size when it can be sexed. Very hard to get a picture of, its very small.
