I think the powerhead shot the majority of the water over the side and out of the tank. When the stream could no longer reach over the edges top. the surface agitation it created increased the evaporation rate well above the normal rate. (but not 2 gals worth)
I HATE suction cups!!!!

Gryph, You know you need to upgrade to some magnetic PH. Dont need to be very large PHs for a 10 gal.

It sucks to come home to bad aquarium situation.

Get the Hydor Koralia nano's are inexpensive and have magnetic mounts. The come in 265 gph and 425 gph. They put out a nice gentle flow. I use two of each as a supplemental flow.

gryph, sorry to hear about your issues, I have used Chemi Clean before on Cyano with good results, but best long tern is to not get the stuff in the first place which means good flow, and managing your bioload well which is hard in a 10 gallon, overfeeding even a little in a 10 gallon has a much greater effect than overfeeding in a 90 gallon...

PS, while you were out of town I stopped by your apartment, I needed some make up water so i just grabbed 5 gallons out of your tank.... :)

LOL That wouldn't surprise me a bit Ichthys!

No hopefully later this month I'll have my RODI /cross fingers and the 90g will get up and going. The power heads for it have magnetic bases so there shouldn't be a repeat of this misadventure. Sadly I'll miss the 10x points from BRS but such is life.
