Thanks for the advice everyone! Is a 10 gallon to small for a qt tank?
A 20 gal long is your best bet. Since you should only really need it for incoming animals it should do fine. Only if there is an unforseen issue that requires fallowing the tank will you need larger but the spare 10 gal will come in handy for that. Touch wood it isn't needed though...

I would definately get the new QT tank and have it set up and running but hold off on transfering the fish just yet. If it is a mild bacterial/pH issue, the water changes and fortified feedings should do the trick. If the tang doesn't show marked improvement by Monday, you will most likely be looking at a Vibrio or bacterial issue requiring treatment and you will then need to transfer the tang.

Jiddy and Mrs Jiddy.......Hey guys my YT did the exact same thing after I got her a couple years ago. It got the red bloches and all. I have no magic solution, and never figured out what caused it. It did however go away after a short time. I did put her in a QT, but just to keep her away from other fish. I didn't give any meds or anything. I think I did more harm then good at first catching her, because she got really stressed. I put her back in after she recovered from the stress, and the rubbing and bloches stopped/went away.......I occasionaly soak some food in selcon and garlic, but I have pretty much weened my fish and rarely do it anymore.

Well the tang looks back to normal, i have been soaking her food in garlic. Do you think i still need to put her in a qt tank? I am worried that it will just stress her out and the fact that it is only a 10 gallon is kinda small for her. I think the reason this happened is cause we got 10 chromis's at once. maybe??

yuuhhuu !!! that's great to hear.
well since she looks like she's back to normal i'd say don't put her in the quarantine tank and just watch her because that could cause her to stress , make sure she's eating, swimming, not rubbing one the rock and i think it'll be fine :)

Agreed but you really need to be sure you keep up with the water changes on a regular basis and keep the foods highly nutritous. Especially veggie type grazing foods.

I want to mention this just because, whenever adding fish to a tank, never let any of the water they come in into your tank.

Adding 10 fish at once could of caused a little mini cycle. I am glad at this point things are looking well.

i agree with Steve and Ken, you really have to give them the best food to keep them healthy and yeah keep up with the water changes because that not only help your fish but the whole tank.
and yeah never let any other water from a different tank go into your tank
