I just noticed some small black spots on one of my false pecs that has just started hosting in a ricordea mushroom. The fish has been fine for 9 months now and is eating and swimming just fine.
The fish started hosting in the mushroom and two days later the spots apeared. They appear to be smooth and flat, more like skin discoloration than a raised bump like a parasite. There are about six spots just below the dorsal fin on one side. The fish is tank raised and has never been exposed to any parasites that I know of. There is a pair of them in the tank and the female who has not hosted in the mushroom shows no sign of the spots at all.
Is there a connection between the spots and the hosting or do I have a more serious problem?
