Hi, im setting up a 29 gal tank and i want to keep mostly-all SPS. I will have 4 outputs. I was thinking about using a sequence reeflo dart. It seems like overkill, but i went on reef central, and i used the head loss calculator. I used the sequence 3600seq12 because it had the same gph as the dart. So after i put in the info, i got 2412 gph. Then if i divide that into 4 i get 630 gph. Does this sound right?
Thanks,
Bing

that is per jet but you are still moving 2412gph for a 29that is quite a bit of flow I would suggest adding a couple of squids on there to give you alternating flows.

I honestly think that it would be a bit excessive. I am running a ampmaster 3k and a iwaki rltx30 on my 90G, and I would say that the 40+ times per hour of turnover that I have is plenty. What you are talking about could be over 100 times a hour. I do know that DonW is running 2 ampmasters and the same iwaki as mine on his 110. He dosn't seem to think that he has too much flow. I think that if it was well directed w/ 6 or so outlets that it could work.

i am running a bluline 40x that is around 1100 gph in a 75 gal tank and I think it just might be too much pump for my tank because my turn over rate is 14 time s an hour

I would think you could do a 1100-1200 gph pump and like Tom said, plan your outputs to maximize the use of the flow. Just having big flow doesn't necessarily gain you anything except stuff flying everywhere (including coral tissue). This size pump would give you close to 40x turnover and you could easily get a good flow pattern in a 29 with that much. I'm lke Tom in that I have an ampmaster 3K on a 75 and that's 40x turnover. I could do with a little more flow, but I think it is more about where the flow is than how much.

What about a velocity T4? That would be like the blueline 40x. That would give me 40 times turnover right? Thanks.

I Will Give You A Personal Warning About Velocity Pumps They Heat The Water. I Sold Them Back While I Worked For A Now Dedefunked Lfs. And Just About Everyone Came Back. I Would Urge You To Go With Iwaki Or Lil Giant Or Blue Line Or Dolphin Or Sequence.

Ok, then ill use a blueline 40x, my water is hot enought already. I dont want to use an Iwaki because i heard they were loud and they are too expensive for me.

With a blueline 40x, after dividing it into 4 outputs, i will get ~288 gph. What matters is the turnover right? I will get 1153gph out of the blueline so that alone gives me ~39x turnover plus my mag 9.5 which gives like 20x turnover.

it is a good pump so far compaired to any internal or overpriced external that i could find. it runs cool and it is noisly from fan but there are plenty noisier more expensive pumps out there. i use and i trust it.
