Just thought I would post some pictures of Barrier Reef Aquariums Elos tank. This is always my first stop when I hit up the store. From day one they have been using the Elos 'Purist Line' which is similar to Zeovit. That is, it's a bacteria driven filter system to give your water the clarity your animals deserve.

The lighting is an Elos Planet II with a Reeflux de 10k 150watt bulb. Then it is supplemented by four Actinic + T5's. The pictures don't do any justice, but I tried.

Ofcourse when you buy the "System" from Elos you get a sump, skimmer, top off system, and the pumps (Eheims) to run the tank. Barrier Reef added a pico calcium reactor to keep up with the coral demands and the tank has been a shining star ever since.

Skimmy did do a quick mod to the skimmer and ever since that it has been pulling some great NOG. The skimmer on this tank is a NS500 that is run by an Eheim 1260.

They also had the movement kit added to the tank. This kit has a couple of Eheim minis and with that this tank has been doing great. You can see the movement kit in the back corner. It has part of the overflow incorporated into it.

Barrier Reef has put in several tangs (all juveniles), but they don't seem to survive as the Purist Line is limiting the amount of algae for them to graze on.

I remember noticing a few corals darkening up and mentioned that they should cut back on the RB10 part of the Purist line. I'd say after about 3 days things started to really pop in the tank and has never looked back.

I know if something nice comes in the guys will put it in the Elos tank because it's pretty much a gurantee that the coral will end up with great color.

As far as fish they only have the few nano gobies. I'm sure they'll add something at a later time as long as it will stay small.

Dan,

Those are blastomussas. Barrier Reef gets those in every so often. These are just popping with color because of the tank they are in. Pretty easy to keep and don't need a ton of light or flow.

That's the beauty of the 'Purist Line'. When I first started to use it my girlfriend commented about the water being so clear it was like it wasn't even there. That's saying alot because she never says anything about the tank.

I love that tank. Aren't they giving away a bigger version of that system in the raffle? I bought a ticket, but I wasn't certain what they were exactly giving away.
