Hey, Welcome to Reef Frontiers Very Cool woodwork. Are you switching over to S/W Reef setup or Fish only system ? Or are you going to stay Freshwater. This is a great site for Saltwater and quite a few reefers also keep F/W systems as well.

my goal is to go saltwater. but i want to make sure i can keep up with maintance and stuff like that before i get into saltwater . .
i just dont know all what to start off with and stuff like that. lol seems like the fish store i goto they can care less if and what i want to learn. and this is why i joined here :p
and thanks for the Welcome. .

i just dont know all what to start off with and stuff like that.

step 1 start collecting equipment. do your research and everybody will agree that you get what you pay for in this hobby.

list includes

nice retro light package to put in that fine hood you built. i would recommend Metal Halides for coral, T12 Vho for fish and soft corals.

bigger sump 14 gal is going to be a pain to fit everything in too. sorry

at least two 300w heaters (one plugged in set and for back up)

protein Skimmer (in-sump skimmer preferably) if its cheap go for something rated for 200 gal. more expensive something rated a bit above your size of total water volume is fine

i would also recommend media reactors like from Bulk Reef Supply for running phosphate removal media and carbon if you want to do coral plus these are a big help when setting up a tank and curing live rock to help pull nutrients

your gonna want like 3000gpm of water movement in there so you will want to consider how to do that. ie powerheads, closed loop

some dead rock and sand (if you want it) and salt

lots of patience

and more patience:)

never be afraid to ask, Creating an environment we humans don't live in doesn't just come naturally to anybody.

you ask questions all you want. but be warned you will get many answers as most of us do things different somethings work well for some rather then others. This is a good place for information and to help you make an Informed Decision. we are all here to help! with that being said I like the tank and the stand nice work! and welcome to RF
