Hi all,
After perusing the forums I added myself because there is such a wealth knowledge on here!
I had a tank dumped on me that needs a lot of work, and I have a lot of experience with fresh water tanks, but absolutely no experience with salt water tanks. So I hope I can get some help!

Welcome! People here are very welcoming and knowledgeable. How big is your saltwater tank?

akotom,

welcome to RF !!!

Since you are new to SW, I would strongly suggest you purchase and read the following book:

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist: A Commonsense Handbook for Successful Saltwater Hobbyists (Microcosm/T.F.H. Professional): Robert M. Fenner, Matthew L. Wittenrich, Scott W. Michael: 9781890087999: Amazon.com: Books

it will answer most of your questions plus give you a good foundation to start...i would suggest NOT to setup a fish/reef tank until you read this book....when i made the transition from FW to SW, i read and research for 6 months..

the key to SW is patience AND go slowly.

Thank you I will definitely look into purchasing this book, unfortunately I inherited a tank that is already set up, but the good thing is that there is no coral or sea anemones in the tank, only echinoderms, so not necessarily a reef tank, and a couple other few odds and ends.

Yes welcome, I've only been here a short time myself. I have been on many other forums though, and have to say this one is a wealth of knowledge and that's even before the members get to handing out there tips.

Yeah you are right there is many things whcich you found only here it ios very help full to all . I think its unique . So best of luck .
