Can you obtain any fresh live rock? You'll have the seeds for an outrageous growth of macro with a bit of uncured live rock when it cycles. Adding a pinch of flake food in the fuge will introduce a bit of phosphate, which will stimulate algae growth. The trick is to keep the fuge unplumbed from the display till the macro takes a foot hold. Needs dedicated lighting and don't skim the fuge as it is starting out. Nutrient laden water will get it going all right...I can't believe I just gave advise to promote algae growth. I think the Cubs have a shot....

Just a pile of rubble alone is enough. It will collect plenty of detritus on its own. No need to turn it into a sewer before hand.

Reed Mariculture sells live copepods/tiggerpods check out www.reefnutrition.com From what I have experienced and read and been told their products are top notch. Im currently using tiggerpods, rotifeast, and phytofeast.
You can also now get live copepods from liveaquaria.com I have not tried these yet however.
