Looking for opinions and recommendation:

Basically I'm wondering what people think would be better. 1*250watt or 2*150watt over a 40 breeder. (14k bulbs not matter what)

Cost will be almost the exact same

1*250= One homemade reflector $50, socket $35, bulb $69, ballast $109
Total= $263

2*150= Two homemade reflectors $100, socket $20, ballast $99 (I have everything else
Total=$219

one note though if I go the 250 way I will have a 150watt setup to help recoup some of my cost.

So since cost isn't an issue what route would be better...

oh mostly SPS

Stick with the 250 and ditch the 150s. Just mount the 250 about 8-10'' over the 40b and you will have enough light spread to cover the tank assuming you are using one of Fatboy's DYI lumenarc reflectors. Also you will ahve one less bulb to replace.

i say go with 2:D

No you should be just fine with one 250 but do like sarang said and raise it up a little it will spread the light out more as these relectores are more for penatration :)lol:) then they are for wide spread.
