looks good buddy. Hey are you noticing the corals having more slime to them??

Mojo

not real sure about the slime but growth is deffently up and the colors are really starting to come out. I'm running bio-pellets on the frag system and there is no contest the zeovit is the only way to go

Guerry the reason I ask is because sps get between 95 to 98% of their energy budget from light, withe system you are running it is reducing the amount of zooanthellea with in the coral. That algae is what converts the light to usuable energy for the coral.

Now having said that the coral also have means by which to gather in resources by capture to help in that energy buget. The way they capture food is by slime netting, so they spit out slime from just under their polyp, allow bacteria and similar to feast on it and then reel it in an feed on that.

So in watching you progress I kind of want to see if the coral is making that change over?? if that makes sence?? as in doing more slime netting to make up for the reduction of its zoox population. Its something that I have always wanted to observe with folks that use that system. Interesting stuff.

we are now doing a lighting up grade, going from 1300watts of MH lighting to LEDs. I've got to slow the wheel down on the old power meter box. This is what I'm starting with
IMG_1309.jpg

fixture will have 72 XP-E royal blues, 36 XP-E cool whites and 36 XP-G R5s for mid day sun

This thread is down right amazing! Love all your workmanship, super nice. Wish I could do a quarter of what you got going on in the big building. Looking forward to watching this progress.

I'm near Savannah, GA my wife is from Cleveland OHio so I get up that way every once in a while

Awesome, I have a local guy not quite as big as your setup but all the same very convenient being about 10 minutes from my new house. There is a spot in Columbus though very comparable in size to you, very fun weekend trips every now and then.

been awhile since last up date tank is doing great have made some changes though, tank is now lit by LEDs, I removed 5 hydo power heads and replaced with 2 MP40w es. this has allowed me to remove 1/3hp chiller and still maintain 78 degree temp with a drop in power bill near $100. a month. I also built new becket skimmer which is powered by a blueline 55 pump and return pump has also been changed to BL 55 pump for skimmer/return balance. here's some pic's of tank now days
