Try when it is dark outside Marty, we can wait!! How long do you think iit is going to take to get everything moved in a comfortable?

I am going to start doing some plumbing today. There is a lot of extra to do.
I'm going to do a 4 inlet closed loop with a Reeflo Dart/Snapper hybrid pump.
With a single suction hole.
The main return pump is a Eheim 1262 that will be plumbed external.
I'm not a big fan of internal pumps. Just something about putting electrical devices in saltwater...............

Then I'm going to do a bean animal style drain on the external overflow box.
I also need to go get some kitchen paint ( color match at Lowes) ( from the last time I painted the kitchen ) and paint the corner wall that I couldn't reach when the 240 was sitting there.

I'm going to go get a product called sound board from home depot that I'm going to place under my sump and return pumps.
It's a sound deadening board that reduces vibrations.
The piece I had under my sump before held up perfect for 8 years. The leak in the tank did some damage with it sitting in water for a month+.

I hoping to have it wet by next Saturday as long as I continue to be unemployed and have the time.

I will have lots of extra room in this tank with the overflow being external.
Plus last week I had a crash in one of the coral holding tubs and lost all of my lps. Mostly frogspawn and hammers.
Plus all mushrooms, snails and hermits. I was surprised all the mushrooms croaked.I figured they would last through anything.

Wow, sorry to hear about the crash................... but......................look at it this way, it gives you a chance to rethink things a bit and maybe go after some stuff that is not so common, who knows. Must have been bad, I could never kill my mushrooms when I had them!

You are going to love the Hybrid pump, I have one running my closed loop/Sea Swirls, and it does a great job.

It all sounds good, can't wait for some updates, and a few pics when you get em :)

Also sorry to hear about the crash.. I agree on the new opportunities though.. before you know it you'll wondering where all that new extra room went.

I guess it was my fault. I got complacent.
I saw there was a problem early ( cloudy water) and did a large water change thinking I would do another a few hours later and didn't really do much else.
I should have tried moving stuff, run carbon, maybe a few tests. Just more than I did.
I lost a green sinularia that I had for probably 11-12 years. It would grow large ( really large) and shrink back for a while then do it all over again. Go from a nice green color to almost yellow.
At times it covered about a 2 sg. ft area in my tank.
It's completely gone.

I was thinking some encrusting type lps in the mix this time.

AW no Marty, I remember pics of the Sinularia, and I remember how I felt when mine, that was about the same size passed. When you have something that long it is almost family!!!

Chalices Marty........................ chalices, and I know you can grow em ;)

hey your welcome. im down to help anytime. so we need pictures of the tank. come on. lets see them.

Marty, I have a large green nepthea. you are welcome to a nice size piece.

Thanks I could take you up on the offer.

I do have some other small ones. It's just I was sad I lost the old one I got from a friend in Tacoma a long time ago.

The more I look at the tank, the happier I am with it.
There really is a lot of detail that just isn't picked up with the camera.
The glass seams are all clean and straight, nothing out of line.
Edges are beveled and polished.

My plan for the plumbing is taking shape.
I had a idea, but until the tank was sitting here, everything was written in pencil.

its a beautiful tank Marty. congrats.

Thank-you.
Now I have to try and do a decent looking job on the plumbing.
It seems these days that what's under the tank is part of the display as well.
Fancy paint jobs on the pvc seems to be the normal now.

Not sure if I can do that. Maybe just use a clear primer. :)

i'm not one for caring how it looks really, but i do have to say, some of the color coded setups so you can easily see which line runs where, well.. just seems like that might be worth the time for complex plumbing.. my one line is, two lines out don't much require it though :)

Marty, make the plumbing functional first, then worry about looks!!!! Please do not look behind my tank then, the pipes themselves would be embarrassed. It looks great, I can't wait to see water in it and functioning!!! Good luck :)

I do it daily myself

Isn't that just part of the routine?
Check this, look at that,?

I don't know how many times I've come home from work and within seconds of being in the house and realized something ( even minor) was wrong.
