I just bought one of those units from filterdirect myself. I got the one with the reservoir tank and hooked it up Friday. It took about an hour with my very limited plumbing skills. The instructions are pretty self explanatory and no leaks so far.

I live in an apt too. I did have to drill one hole in to the drain line. I drilled into the piece I thought would be the easiest to replace from Home Depot when I move out. For the feed water you may want to get a 1/2 inch to 1/2 inch flexible pipe thing and a nipple that will fit. It was a pain to get everything tightend up under the sink and that extra hose would have made it a whole lot easier.

I bought the valve for the faucet, that way I didn't have to drill. Just screw it on to the faucet and flip the switch. If you want to take it apart you just unscrew it. Simple and that's the way I like it.

I use Morton, cheap pure & has iodine
Petsmart has IO fairly cheap in my hood, the others want way too much for my deep pockets lol

I get mine from the LFS. I think Petco carries salt, and PetSmart if they are closer than your LFS.

My LFS doesnt sell IO and i have no Petsmart, i live in S.Dakota guys. True story here, the movie "Dances with Wolves" filmed here, no props used, that is how this place really is. I basically need a website, its $50 shipped tomuch for a 160gal bucket?

Petsmart.com at times offers reduced shipping, not sure about the salt being heavy but they do have good prices, I pay over 50$ for a 160 g bucket.

Uhhhh well it will fill it halfway up. Its 160 gallon at 1.021 salinity. I keep mine at 1.026. You will need two buckets. I know they are not a sponsor, www.bigalsonline.com has them on sale for 29.99 right now or they did anyway. Steve
