seems this is going to be a competition between high end cameras....if I had Nikon D90 or something I could get great pic's....but I have P&S and there is no way I could compete in this....
EXACLTY
nnot a comp..
just wanna see what people can do with no editing..
skills are required
but photo's from the camera are a sign of real skills.

ReefLogic, post away!!! You'd be amazed at what you can do with a P&S. I'll have to dig out some older, non-edited pics that I've taken, using a P&S!

Also, as everyone mentioned, this is in no way a competition. We just all love looking at pics, and some of us really enjoy taking pics. For me, it's almost as much of a hobby as reef keeping.

ok...ok....I will try....but am seeing shots so far that are simply not possible with my camera. My aperature wont open past like 7 and I can't for the life of me figure out how to adjust the white balance to get the quality shots you guys get.

But....I will try

OK, I will play too... Man I need to take some new pics. It's been a while.

Lots of great contributing photos here!!

Here's some examples of what a P&S can do. These were shot with Angie's Sony dsc-w170, without any editing. Custom white balance was set, in the camera, prior to these shots. Unfortunately, I can't take credit for these, as Angie (madisons_mommy) took most of them.

hhhhhmmmmmmm Ill have to wait to see what this turns out to be.. here it is now

I've seen quite a few acros with the same purple/green color scheme(hey that rhymes), so who knows what the actual species would be on yours or this ORA one...

Best I can get with my P&S and current skill level....sorry for a bunch of pic's but I couldn't figure out which was "best"

Female Ocellaris clownfish swimming under a umbrella leather (Sarcophyton sp.) coral. Leather in this photo was approximately 12" in circumference. This photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix 4600 Point and Shoot.

I seen this new thread on another forum.. I thought it was a FANTASTIC idea..
I would like this thread to be 100% straight from the camera pics.
NO resizing
no cropping
no editing WHAT SO EVER..
NOT EVEN WHITE BALANCE..

If you set your white balance in your camera correctly you wont need to ..

You sain NO editing. Your camera shooting jpg is the same as using canons DPP. Hang on I'll find my Holga.

Most point and shoots do not shoot RAW and only save photos as JPEG's. Only non point and shoot or higher end cameras have the ability to shoot RAW.

Also unsure if you can upload RAW photos to Flickr or Photobucket. Dunno. I would assume that even a JPEG photo coming from the camera would be allowed as unedited (left unrevised).

:D

I hope this isn't a competition, otherwise I think Brie might win. Save your money and don't buy a D90 but instead buy a Nikon D7000. It should already be hiting the market and the price is not much more than the D90.
