I'm new to saltwater. So if I put ice in a ziplock or bottle it won't contaminate my water in anyway?

Possibility some of the water from the ice could leak out of the bag which would not be good for the tank...you could put filtered water in an ice cube tray, freeze it, and then put that in a bag...

Good point. I didn't even think of the water leaking out of the ziplock. Unfortunately the sun has left and I won't be needing to cool down my tank anytime soon.

I just float frozen milk jugs and juice bottles. Seems fine to me. Think the plastic is fine, and they don't leak.

in the past I have used 2 litter coke bottles and frozen them then floated. never an issue this way with leaking.
