Hey all,

I'm looking for advice. I have a closed loop system on a 55 gallon tank, and I need an external pump to push up about 5 feet. The biggest concerns are noise and price (though I know you get what you pay for on pumps). Tried a little giant and the flow was disappointing and the pump was too loud to talk over.

Right now I'm looking at the Reeflo Dart as well as the comparable dolphin pump. The Dart bills itself as being close to silent -- is this true? Any cheaper alternatives that people like? Any other words of wisdom?

thanks!
Susan

well what are you using for the random flow? The iwasakis are classics. Dolfins are good but have had problems. even a quietone would be ok but not a great choice. If you search around the boards you will find many use the Dart and bigger. It would be good also if you go up in size.
