List of materials

Hi dngspot Long time watcher of this thread I like what you have done the DIY is great I just don't know where to get a rotating motor like that at?
If your not interested in making these would you at least give us a list of materials I.e. major parts we would use for this project, Thank you for the Idea it is a real good one. Jeff

I get the motor for 10.00 the box for 4.00. The acrylic is from other projects, the links are 2.00 and the bearing is 3.50. Hardware is less than a buck and a cord is .50. The rest is time.
There is no way I could do this just for the parts, sorry.

DIY= Sorry for bogarting your thread Adam

First I think we should not steal Adam's thunder from the sea swirl mod, But I would like David to continue on how to build these wave making mods I am trying to located what part # of sealed bearing did you use, Next can you just use this for the shaft?

Thank you guys for all the ideas & I hope its good I am going to try making 2 for starters..
Jeff

I am glad you guys are liking the project but I simply do not have the time to build anymore at this time.
The rotating motor came from ebay. Here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/5304448488-Micr...es_Cooking_Appliances?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
I will give a list tonight.

No worries just showing people options with these wave makers for more random flow
I'm done with the project but if you all like his also, by all means go for it.

BTW my mod can be made longer to go deeper in your tank if necessary..
Just add a length of 1" PVC and a slip to slip coupler at the top to go on the sea swirl..

I am glad there are no hard feelings my intent was not to steel the thread but, to show if you do not have a spare sea swirl, it is cheaper to make one instead of buying new and mod'ing.

Any 3/4 O.D. rod or tube will work fine. My first units were made from 1/2 inch grey pvc. Some other options are 1/2 white pvc or any color 3/4 acrylic. Look in your phone book you may find a acrylic supplier that can provide you with those options.

If you are interested in how my Swirlers came to be there is a complete build on my local site.

Several PM's asking for a parts list, here it is.

Each swirlers use:
4 #8 X 1.25 screws
8 #8 nuts
1.25 feet of .75" acrylic tube
4X4X2 plastic j-box
1 .75 I.D. bearing, the O.D. can be changed to your application.
1 electrical cord with plug
Some scrap 1/4" acrylic sheet to make the arms and bearing hold down.

This will make a swirler unit only not the pump mount.
