What...I missed it....I was only gone a few minutes. ^@$#! you Charly..lol

You know, with all this knowledge, you should have more posts than you have sharing it with others :)

You have no idea how much I'm learning looking for some of this stuff. :) I did know cyano off the top of my head though... Otherwise, I have nowhere near the knowledge of a lot of you guys on here...but I'm learning more every day!

+1 to that. I've had my nano going for almost 3 years and every now and again I see something that makes me say "why didn't I do that from the begining".

Well, that is great to hear and part of the purpose of the game.:) When I thought of doing this game, I had these things in mind:
  • Have some fun!
  • Help members learn a bit more about the hobby
  • Help members to learn more about the forum itself (sort of an awareness of where certain buttons and features are)
  • Familiarize members with the search feature and how to use it
  • Familiarize members with certain key specialists we have here and perks of the forum (which you will see come in some of the up-coming questions).
  • Increase forum participation

We are not even half way there yet so it's still anybody's game. Some one with not a single point can come back and still win this thing so don't give up guys. Charlypooh is doing great!!! Especially for a member that is considered a "newbie" to the forum. :)

Look at Johnny come lately . Scampy beat you to the punch.

Technically the question was supposed to be posted with the answer, but didn't want to be a prick about it seeing it is all in good fun.:) The question is up top so people will know what the question was. We'll have to remember to post the quesitons from here on though to keep things in order. :)

If you want to give the point to spllbnd2 I wont hold it against you. I posted it wrong. I'm a reefer because I enjoy it not because I need a free membership. This is a game and rules are rules.

No man...It's cool and just a fun game. You had the answer right so you get the point. I'm sure Alex doesn't mind. :)

No worries Krish. I did it all in the name of F-U-N :D I was actually laughing while typing thinking about the Jepordy game show. Please put your answers in the form of a question.

You know I was going to ask you if you thought this was Jeopardy last night! I mean you and the host of Jeopardy have the same first name

Q 7:Can you treat your tank with copper in a hyposaline solution? If yes, why? If no, why not?
A: No hypo drops PH and is hard to controll and the copper can be lethal to fish

but from what I've read...hypo causes the ph to drop or fluctuate rapidly and copper in low ph water is poisonous to fish

cupramine in low ph breaks the amine bond which breaks copper down to its most basic form and makes it lethal

Gentlemen,

Some good guesses and banter on this question, but keep searching the site to find the answer.
:)

I will take this as the right answer!:peace: You got your info I see from Steve-S post who was our resident fish specialist and also a supermod here. He was a smart guy! When he left, Lee took over. The answer was found in Lee's forum which said basically the same thing, just worded slightly different as seen below. Thanks to Kirk for the great question!! :)

Never perform a copper treatment in a hyposaline solution. The copper becomes lethal to marine fishes if and when the pH goes down in a hyposaline treatment. A drop in pH in a hyposaline treatment is almost a guarantee since the buffering ability of the water is poor in such a low salt concentration (Copper-Treatment, Use, Problems sticky, Lee Birch)
