    I would look into better lighting as well as getting the test kits. 4 bulb vho t5 setup may not be adequate lighting for a 90g if your wanting coral :) Look in to some LED's

    I think you may just need more macro algae to help clean your water. I only have a 100g with a 30g sump/refuge with lots of macro algae. I have 15 different shrimp & 22 different fish from tangs to clowns & never a problem :-) I do 20g water changes every other week.

    halides on for 6 hours and the T-5s on for 10 hours worked well for my 100g But then went to LED's & run them for only 9 hours :-)
