My unit hooks up to my kitchen faucet also and I use a float switch. You sure you can't use a float switch? Works perfectly also.

What pump are you using for your return?

When mixing salt, which powerhead should you use?

Does it matter what pump/powerhead you use to mix your saltwater? What I mean is the flow/rate. I know it has to be a certain flow rate in order to make sure it's completely mixed. But what should that be?

I checked my salinity and it was 1.020. I fixed the issue I had with my ATO.

Well I just had a set back. Luckily there were no expensive animals in the tank at the time. My Hydor ATO kept topping off. Luckily my wife was at home to make sure it didn't get too out of hand. So my tank is now saturated with freshly made RO/DI water. Looks like I'll be waiting a little...

I was just wondering, should your ATO reservoir be heated or not necessary?

The MP10 along with what little flow comes from the return and that is all. I have a lot of surface agitation. I run the MP10 in reef crest mode. Was thinking about getting a second one to run master/slave config.

I just checked my levels with my Red Sea test kits. Still no ammonia but there is about 10ppm of nitrates and 0 nitrites. Thanks for the input guys.

Clowns, Banggai cardinal, purple firefish, and blue reef chromis. Unfortunately I can not seem to find the pics of my old system.

Yes QT tank for sure. Already took advantage of the petco $1 a gallon sale and picked up a 10g. I did not add ammonia like we discussed. Wasn't comfortable with doing that. Didn't know how much to add. Not running my lights and no signs of diatoms. Tank water and sand are clear as a bell...

Starting a new tank but not new to the hobby.

3 weeks into the cycle. I had small ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate spikes. Now everything is testing 0's. I was using API test kits. Just got my Red Sea test kits and I'm going to re-test. If they show the same, what do I do? Seem too short for the cycle to be over. Especially since I had...

If you go back to the 40B, here is my LED light fixture over my 40B. From Reef Radiance, the Lumentek Pro 180 fixture. Great, controllable, bright fixture. Check them out. Excellent customer service also.

    Nana's 40B

Wow, looking at the images of your finished product, my 40B looks exactly the same. Overflow on the right, return on the left. Loc-line and all. I love that set up. Can't wait to see the finished product.

    Making your own saltwater.

I read on a few forums that you need to keep your saltwater aerated. Especially if you use a brand that has additives, such as Cal and Alk. I plan on using IO reef crystals. Does this brand of salt require aerating and if so, do I need to use an air stone? Or is a pump good enough? Thanks.
