Glass heater exploded in my sump!

Dang :( I had this happen to my picotope with a visitherm heater, I hope you've gone through the worst of it. (I was studying, looked down and was like "there shouldn't be white sparks in my sump... the heater cracked in two).

    MrGone's fish tank room

Thank you got all the compliments guys! I moved the live stock over today. I still need to shuffle everything around but I wanted to get my 150 gallon ready for the buyer to come pick up. Most of the fish are hiding. The lighting setup is temporary, I am planning on making lumenbright 3 style...

    Aquarium Heaters

I was curious to hear your opinions and experiences on various brands and models. I'm thinking about buying some new ones for my new setup (also half of mine are too small now) and I'm torn between going with some of those stealth heaters with the plastic casings and those titanium ones. They...

    MrGone's fish tank room

A bit of organized chaos while we finish plumbing and start filling the tanks I tried to do a panorama style shot to give you guys a better idea of the sump design/flow. I couldn't get the far right side but that is where the 210g and 75g flow into (the refugium is the far right tank and it...

    MrGone's fish tank room

Ok so I started filling the 125 gallon tanks today! All of the plumbing will be finished tonight (almost there, just have two holes left to drill in the top of the left most sump for the main overflow piping of the 125g tanks, and then two holes in the wall for some extra pipes to go out into...

Thanks! I have this nagging suspicion something is going to hold us up but... well now I just jinx'd myself  We used a Fantech CVS300A, I'm not sure if it is going to be enough but its just going to take some time to figure it out. It will also be a while before we get a TV in that room...

    MrGone's fish tank room

The LED setup I built is for my Dad's office aquarium. I'd love to run LEDs on this setup but it is too expensive right now :( I already have three 250w lumateks from my 150g and I bought two more 250w vertex's from Barriers last sale. I was planning on using the dual galaxy ballast I bought...

    MrGone's fish tank room

Ok so it's been a bit longer than anticipated but I'm hoping to start getting water in the system by Monday. There are now four 20 amp circuits going to the aquarium. Circuits 1 and 2 go to the back corner by the pump tank, circuit 1 just has four outlets, circuit 2 also has 4 outlets there...

Attmepted Break In - Looking For Info

That really sucks, Chris was saying his iPod was stolen at the last sale too and that was very disappointing to hear since I'm fairly certain its all hobbyists (and probably all on this site) that go to them. I really hope you catch who ever it is. You also might check www.monoprice.com, they...

    Mr Gone's filters

Thanks! Honestly I am kind of looking forward to taking a break and enjoying the tanks for a while. Between helping rebuild this tank and building out my fish tank room at home I haven't had a chance to actually enjoy an aquarium in a while as bad as that sounds. But I am ecstatic to say I am...

The Vortechs finally came, now we are waiting on the lights and it'll be time to start dropping in some corals! :) I'll try to take some more pics tomorrow of the tank, I kind of made a sand storm tonight.

    Discussion on Controllers

I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them but I have been using the Reef Keeper Lite for the last year and a half and love it. They start at $100 or so and I love using them for the lights and heater (I just set the heater itself to 78-80* or so, then have the controller maintain...

Mag Floats for 1" + Acrylic tanks

That's the link I saw, the mighty magnets. Thank you! I've seen the Great White at Barrier but I need it to float because it is for a 34" high Peninsula tank that has a clam shell hood and the front half of it is glued down, getting to the front bottom is a real pain.

    MrGone's fish tank room

Thanks! yeah, I was thinking "maybe we should build this into a bar so we can eat in here, and put a TV in here, and a desk and ... yeah". Yesterday and today has been Christmas here with a lot of supplies coming. Picked up stuff to start on wiring the room Bulkhead City (thanks Jason!!!)...
