    Amazing pH discovery!

Just a thought. This is from the SL2 module site on digitalaquatics.com: "The pH port on the SL2 is an isolated pH port. This all but eliminates the affect ground loops and system interference when using multiple pH probes. Any standard pH probe with a BNC interface should work with the SL2."...

    acro power/feeding

No worry, my tank is 5 years old, I did a tank move from a 30 to a 90 4 years ago, so about 50% of my rock is 5, the rest 4. My nitrates range from 0 to .2 (Salifert), phosphates are within error margin of 0 on Hanna. I also do 1% daily water changes on a fixed schedule (fully automated). I dose...

    acro power/feeding

I picked up a bottle after the Bob Moore frag swap on Saturday, I read the reef builders review and figured I'd give it a try. I've been dosing 3ml per day since Saturday, I have around 160 gallons total water volume. I was skeptical, and I did not expect any changes for weeks or months...

    Bob Moore Frag swap

First Bob Moore, huge kudos to the people that put it together. :) I didn't see much trading going on, maybe just not in the right places at the right time. So, I ended up just donating the 7 corals I brought for trading to the raffle. Most of the stuff I donated blended into the rest of the...

    skimmer waste tank question

Why not put the skimmer on a couple feet and raise it up a few inches to get the plug over the top? Or, it looks like it's an acrylic sump, put in a bulkhead to run the line through? If you're not into DIYing a solution with a float switch, Avast marine makes a skimmate locker that has an air...

pH ssues all day long. 7.8.

My skimmer uses a 1/4" ID tube to feed it, i ran a 3/4" ID tube 5' outside, i didn't use an air pump, there has been no visible affect to skimmate production or any signs i'm starving it of air, but my PH jumped by .2. :) The line is hidden in an old dryer vent output, and i put a filter sock...

    GFIC electrical question

I personally prefer the GFI that are a circuit breakers in the box over the plug type, i've never had a false GFI pop using those on my tank. I don't have any inside knowledge about their manufacture, but personal experience with them makes me think they're engineered better than the plug style...

    GFIC electrical question

BTW, you can see this phenomenon yourself if you plug in a hair dryer in your bathroom. How could a two plug hair dryer short to ground? Yet, they often will pop a GFI when you turn them on and off...

    GFIC electrical question

A groud probe with no GFCI is a fire hazard. If the electrical short ends up pulling 19 amps arcing to ground through your tank, it won't trip the main breaker, it'll kill everything in the tank, and start a fire... If you're having the garage wired, why not put GFI breakers in the panel? We...
