    lowest temperature for mixed reef tank

    I have my Ranco controller set to keep my tank between 77 and 79 degrees. I need to double-check my Ranco again as it may be reading a degree low. But at least it consistently runs a degree low if it is low by a degree.

    Acan vacated its skeletal structure.

    Dang, that's pretty freaky. One of my acans had a piece of flesh bud off the main colony, but the colony was pretty good sized with multiple heads. I did not search for the bud, so I do know where it ended up. It will be interesting to see if anyone can give a answer as to what is going on...

    What are you using to measure salinity? What are you using to measure temperature? These are two very basic readings, but inaccurate hydrometers and thermometers can contribute to big problems. I have been lied to before by a swing-arm hydrometer and a cheap digital thermometer. g

    This morning I was dosing my tank and noticed that the flow from my Eheim 1060 return pump had slowed considerably. So I cleaned out the intake screen fitting to remove some chaeto that had become lodged. The flow increased on the pump, but it would not run consistently. It was also emitting...

    stand pipe overflow

    Another option to the Durso is the Stockman. I used a Stockman in a Lifereef overflow box on my non-RR 75 gallon reef years ago. It worked very well and was quiet. The Stockman works well when you do not have enough room to install a Durso. http://www.randystacye.com/dursostandpipe.htm g
