    Why?

oh....are you sure?? The 6th post of this thread seems to indicate it was the bulb that was marked, not the ballast. ??

    Why?

I agree its not right to not more clearly mark a broken bulb......BUT I agree with James that the intent was most likely not to rip you off, but thinking it was repairable. Look at it this way. No reason to get too upset about it. I imagine the ballast will work, and $35 isnt all that bad for...

    Cooking Live Rock

Yeah...cooking is definitely a PITA, but a worthwhile one. Keep in mind, it doesnt take all that much water to do 100% water changes. If you do it......get two containers. One to cook in......and one to move to each week. Then you just set up a rock cooking assembly line from one container...

Euro Reef RS 100 or 135

Honestly.......i would shoot for the rs-180 if it will fit in your sump over either of those for a 90. BUT.......to directly answer your question. rs-135 no doubt given those two choices. I use a meshmodded rs-180 on my 90

    Cooking Live Rock

Cooking your rock will unfortunately not kill your sponges.........nor will it kill most non photosynthetic creatures, depending on how rough you are when you do it. Long story short...cooking your rock is basically shutting it off from the light, keeping it in an aerated and circulated tub of...

    Test Kits and Reliability

heres my take on testing FWIW.....may save you some money if you buy into it ;) Any cheap tests for ammonia and nitrite are fine. The fact that they exist is enough of a result. These arent really even necessary IMO. Just let your tank cycle competely before you add anything....and if you are...

It has been brought to my attention

AS long as you know how to prep your water change water, you can pull a 50% in any kind of tank with no issues IMO. I woudlnt as a habit though as the larger the water change the more of a pita it is You can do 100% if you have to. (100% is of course impossible.....but you can get close) Id...

    Cat Litter

rinse the heck out of it til the smell is gone and you will be fine. A little vinegar OR bleach will help A funny little story...kinda A few years ago when i had a 46 gallon tank i used to use one of those 3 gallon plastic cat litter bottles for my water changes. I was being kind of...

    Astrea Snails

If the wter they were shipped in has a signifigantly lower salinity than yours you want to acclimate them slowly. Its sudden rises in salinity that is really hard on them. edit.....NM you were talking about when being shipped damp, my bad ;)

    500 Watts MH too much

250's will be your best option as you wont find yourself a year down the4 road (or less)wishing you would have bought more light so you can keep more light demanding corals an d clams. In a tank that size 250's will allow you to keep pretty much anything happy, for hardly any more cost...

white stuff on my rocks and sand?

Did he sell them to you? If so......... You should chip the rock out from underneath every one of them and go back into the store and ask for credit for your "polyps". Make sure to blend up about 15 of them so when he refuses you can then dump the concoction in his display tank...

    Tubastrea Eating nudibranch

How do you clean filter socks?

When i used to use filter socks I like those 10x16 100 micron bags. I would install zippers in them so I could in less than a minute open them out flat on the concrete and spray them out good as new very easily without having to use a whole lot of pressure which will shorten their lifespan...

i meant green algae not brown

Cleaner water is always the best choice for reducing nuisance algae. As far as critters, need a pic to know what kind of algae exactly we are talking about

250 watt 10 k xm's. As far away from direct lighting as i can get without being in the shade. Of course......I dont have those corals anymore. I lost all corals in both my 90 and the 225 over the holiday. :(

i know it gets old but protein skimmer advice is needed

I would have you look at the new ATI bubblemaster 160. Its just now becoming available i hear. I recently bought the BM-250 for my 225 and the thing seriously is impressive. Im considering replacing out my enkemat modded euroreef rs-180 on my 90 to this BM-160. I think it will run about...

    The grandson strikes again

:( Sorry to hear that. I have already accepted the fact that my 15 month old son will kill one or both of my tanks at some point. That way when it happens it wont be so upsetting *ya right* Ive pulled a myriad of things out of one of the sumps that he can get to if he tosses stuff around the...
