    Water movement without closed loop

Luke, you made a pretty good observation here in my opinion But what the heck do you mean by this statement ie "normal people" I am upgrading to a 75 in a couple of months and like NeuroDoc I am not interested in a closed loop so I am thinking that I will need a couple of Tunze's, are they...

    cycling

I added green chromis at 3 weeks, I wouldn't add Damsels to any tank at any time because they are mean and almost impossible to catch when you want to pull them out

Hmm, the old "I'm having a kid" thing eh ;) thats 2 in 2 months by my math isn't it ?? I'm just kidding and congrats on the baby !! mine are 14 and 12 and they are worth scaling back or even dropping some hobbies as a lot of us have been forced to do in order to focus all our time on what...

    Was that your tank?

I was there Sunday and saw what I thought was a huge tank in a crate but my son looked in and claimed it was 2 tanks but I think he was mistaken, the tank in the crate was at least 8 feet long, some people and their hobbies huh

    Coincadence? Also an ID

Nikki, I have that same algae and it is indeed wirey/tough but it pulls off very easy in clumps, just like a weed in your flower bed.

    Coincadence? Also an ID

Krish, I have that same stuff growing in mine, it doesn't resemble any of the google images Willy posted. It is more of a hairy grass w/silvery blue hairs mixed in, it is really easy to pull off because it grows in a mound. We got our MH's about the same time and this stuff didn't start growing...

What is this and how do I kill it...

I pulled it off as best I could a week and a half ago and it grew back 2 times as fast, I have had nothing but trouble with this piece of rock and I feel like just putting it in a pot of boiling water  it has massive bristle worms and was the start of my bubble algae, if I do boil it...

    UV Sterilizer......pros and cons ?

Thanks guys/gals for the input, I am just an amateur with an expensive hobby and I think real life experience is worth more than mathematical equations and I really appreciate the senior members throwing up links to relevant threads  Brenden, I am able to get a $200 dollar unit for...

Berlin skimmer questions, can you help?

Mine won't :D I only spent $20 bucks for mine and she aint happy about that. I just told her "the cold hard truth" I told her that I am the man and she is only a woman, she needs to obey me and not get mad when I buy things for my tank, I also told her that she needs to be supportive and buy me...

    How Many Use Tap Water?

This has been an interesting thread so far, One of the things I like about this site is that even well seasoned pro's can exchange information and experience with out talking down to those of us who are new and eager to learn all aspects of reef keeping  I think people loose credibility...

    IceCap wiring

Can you get to a McLendons or Coast to Coast ?? these types of hardware stores should have what you need. The big hardware stores only seem to put fast moving items on thier shelves

Berlin skimmer questions, can you help?

I have only had my Berlin skimmer for 2 weeks and I have been using a really old Mag5 and it just isn't working. I don't have/know of an air adjuster like you mention but I do know that when I blew air into the black air intake hose I made more foam in 10 seconds than the damn skimmer made in...

    How Many Use Tap Water?

I do and will continue to do so until I can afford a rodi system  I have a clam, hairy mushrooms, ugly star polyps, fire and ice zoo's that are growing like crazy ($20 bargain frag) and pulsing xenia that is growing out of control and a brain coral that seems to like tap water. I also...
