    reverse flow sand bed filter

We all get what you are trying to do...and we are telling you that in most cercumstances it just won't work well. There just isn't enough pressure and flow to clean the entire sandbed with a return from a canister. Although, if you must do the "reverse flow", youcan buy window replacement nylon...

    Closed loop

Another idea (if your going to have a sand bed), could also be to have like 2 returns from the bottom and just run the plumbing under the sand bed. Then add a couple from the top, and I think it would be plenty depending on the aquascaping. Good luck -augustus

    Nori to tangs

I was also tired of the clips, and my tangs would rip it off as fast as it went in. So I have a a (small) rock tied to a fishing line that hangs about 2in into my tank. Then I just rubber band the sheets to the rock. They can't pull it off right away, so it gives all 7 of them a more even...

    snowflake eel

I would check around the floor first ...Kind of known for all eels to find the smallest crevice and make the leap (or should I say slide). As for the sea hair, I dont think that the eel would eat it. It would be more likely to starve thank anything. Good luck, and I hope others chime in...

    Butterflies for Reef Aquariums

Perefectly said...All though there are some that are deffinently better then others, for the most part it is hit and miss and you wont know until you have that exact specimen. I have a heniochus in my 100gal softy that does just fine, but I have also heard horror stories about them in reefs. I...

is it ethical to keep fish?

I will admit that we do have an impact on the reefs, but it is NOT anywhere close to the other things destroying it. I am not one that likes to think the fish in my care came from the wild, but I can't handle it when saying that reefs are being destroyed because of us. You need to do a little...

is it ethical to keep fish?

This is true to say about alot of the smaller sized fish (ie gobies). Most would live a very short life in the wild and most likely be eaten, but when well cared for and no predators, I would think the life would be much better. However, I don't think is "ethical" to keep fish that get 2'+ and...

    Butterfly

Pyramid's deffenently, and I have also had pearlscales that have done good. When I get home I will thumb through my butterfly book and see if there are any more. Also, on another note, I would stay away from the pacific blue tang in only a 4' tank. I have 2 and they constantly swim, very rarely...

    R/O D/I Filter question!

Hmm. Could you not slow down the water entering though, so that it doesn't produce as much and there would be less wasted because of the slower filteration??? I don't know alot about the RODI's, so I just thought I would ask. Thanks, (not meant to hijack :p) -augustus

    R/O D/I Filter question!

Sounds pretty good :) It has everything this one has minus the extra stage and 25gpd less. I would check out this for an awsome price. http://www.barrierreefaquariums.com/productCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=38&idproduct=598 Good luck, -augustus
