    LR Curiosity Question

The temperature probably only retarded it. Excuse me, I meant the bacteria is now handi-capable... It will recover within a few weeks.

    Possible Clownfish ID

Amphiprion chrysogaster is close, but the pectorals and caudal are wrong. If I were cornered into making a statement based upon limited knowledge, I would whimper "Hybrid?!?". The color on the pectorals is reminicient of Amphiprion melanopus. What about a Cinnomon/Sebae clown?

Air stone skimmers: Beware of the wrong items sent!!

This may sound like a Handi-capable thing to say, but here goes... Why are you not entertaining the idea of Limewood air diffusers?

    Is this a bad move?

lf it's alive, even after the tail episode, and it is still eating, it may be worth a try. Maybe. Remember, fish deon't read, and it may not know it's not supposed to live. Maybe.

    Frusterated! And tired of trying!!!

reedman, if you can catch his attention, ask him if he has an ozonizer/air purifier in his office. It couldn't hurt. A friend had a problem with excess CO2 blowoff from his reactor. This caused tissue loss and a gradual lightening of colors in the acros. Excess Alkalinity will do the same.

    bristleworm? question

steve-s is right, be careful. Anything that normally eats such nasties normally has an attitude to match! Pseudochromides will eat the fool out of these worms, but they can be detrimental to wimpy tankmates!

I understand your point. It does not fall on deaf ears.

    need help with bulb

Some bulbs are not designed for certain fixtures. Someone more educated can explain it better, but here goes... If your ballast is older technology (can and coil, magnetic) some bulbs won't fire properly. If it is newer technology (electronic) bulbs geared for old tech won't work. One system...

    Frusterated! And tired of trying!!!

STN is normally associated with inadequate flow. I agree with everyone here. Don't give up until you have given a full listing of all situations, problems and parameters. Surely someone can and will help. What are the structures of the few that are doing well? If they are looser colonies, this...

    Is this a bad move?

The liklihood of finding a healthy Regal Angel is slim to none, unless it has been in captivity for many months. Even then, with a diet consisting mostly of sponges, most cannot supply adequate amounts of nutritious foods. but if you have had your Moorish Idol for a long time, you may be up to...

    POLL: Salt Mix

All of the breeders and propagators(sp?) I have known and still know use Instant Ocean. Tropic Marin is probably much better, but between the elevated cost and availiability, Instant Ocean is my choice for store and home. Changing water in over 2000 gallons would get expensive! There is also...

    My 125g first fish

If the Master Liquid test you are referring to is from Aquarium Pharmeceuticals, the Nitrate test barely works. The only time I have seen it remarkably change is when the Nitrates are over 100ppm. Salifert does make really good tests instead.

    Additive Comparison

I've used and sold Seachem for over a decade. I, and my numerous customers, have had great success with thier products. In fact, Seachem products are the only supplements on my retail shelves. You will not find Kent products, nor Coralife, nor any others for sale in my store. I generally use the...

    Mechanical filtration

In fish oriented set-ups, the methods you are already employing are my favorite. If you can import tiny feather dusters or live rock that is covered with them, this may be another added cleaner colony. If anyone attempts to run mechanical filtration, it almost needs to be cleaned/ changed on a...

    Live rock help

Detri, they call that price fixing and it is as illegal as a monopoly. But it is a very good idea, nonetheless. The only problem with that line of thinking is that the competition is too nasty around here. Not outwardly and obvious, but festering under the surface. 71lockard, it was not an...

    phosphate problem

Check your foods. If fish meal is in the first five ingredients, this could be a source of unwanted PO4,(fish meal= ground up bones and scales= phosphates). Also, if you are feeding frozen foods, be sure to rinse them to avoid introduction of yet even more PO4's!

    LR Curiosity Question

So to prevent the degradation of water/rock before armageddon, is to avoid unnecessary reprocussions from the fallout?

    Mechanical filtration

I use invertebrates. Anything from tunicates to Acropora. Most sessile inverts have developed feeding polyps, or methods of deriving nutrition from suspended particles in the water. To remove these particles intentionally is to be stealing food from the children!
