How to take off silicone on acrylic tank?

After you scrape the majority of it off with a good plastic scraper you might be able to use the Novus 2 and finish it off with the Novus 1 to polish it out. Probably do your whole tank with the Novus 2, will polish it right up with a little elbow grease :)

    lighting thoughts..

You might look a little more into your light as far as power bill. If the new lights have a magnitic ballast would the electricity bills be lower than compared to a tar ballast?

    return pump size

Your 1.5 inch overflow plumbing can handle at least 900 gallons a hour drain. If you go to a oversize plumb coming out of your drain you can sometimes drain a little more. With the siphon that is created you maybe able to flow more through the system. 300 is really low for return pump...

    Overflow help

You should be able to find a end cap at your local Lowes, Home Depot, etc. then if you can drill a small hole in it to allow air in the drain. This lets it breath, so you don't get the gurgling sound.

    Acan trying to jump ship?

As it gets bigger or inflates with more water it probably has gotten caught in the current and it is being peeled from its skeleton. If you leave it there it will most likely result in death. If you research it you will find the above recomendations of it being on the sand bed to be correct.

    help with my lighting

You can find a 10,000 k coralife bulb and a actinic bulb for the fixture. It is still only 60 watts of light. You can do some softies under this, keep in mind you should probably change the bulbs out every six months or so. It would work maybe till you can find something better.

    Bulbs discontinued

If the bulbs are ever discountinued you can replace them with 4x65 watt bulbs with a little wiring. I think you would even be able to use the same ballast until they burn out.

Setting up a new 125, help with configuration

If you have to set the top off tank lower than your sump you can go to a electronic float switch that would turn on a small pump to top off your tank.

Setting up a new 125, help with configuration

Measure twice before cutting :) I recomend you have Unions on both side of the pump. With the ALL Glass tank , if you bought the overflow system with the tank you should not need ball valves. However sometimes I have seen the o-ring inside the drain tube leak and let water pass, so ball valve...

    Glass tank drilling in Spokane

I have the professional tripod glass drill. I can drill from I believe a 1/4 inch whole up to a 2 inch whole with my current bits. I also have some bulkheads. I can make the overflow box too. Send me a PM and I can shoot you my phone number if you like. And last but not least I will come to...

    Seahorse Enthusiasts!

Sid, I think using the old stuff would be just fine. I believe you will have more good stuff coming from using the older sand and rock. If you are going to set it up in advance and recycle everthing anyway, you will be able to eliminate any such pest. The pods and other little critters the...

    Please advise!!!! Pump went bad

If you lost flow in your tank because of the tripped breaker your fish will be breathing hard from a lack of oxygen in the water because of no flow. You can always take a cup of water, raise it over the tank a little ways and then pour the water back into the tank. This can help to add air...

new here. looking for live rock. everett wa

Maybe a hose with a good attachment. I would not recomend a carwash because of the soap. The idea is to get out any dust , dirt, or dead critters out of the rock before you put it in your tank. Some people will bake it in the oven after that just to make sure there is nothing but the rock...

    advice on mixing fish

Look, I am not knocking the above advice because the fish do get bigger and that should be a major consideration of what to do when it gets to big. But you can sometimes find a one or two inch fish that will work in a 55 gallon tank, for a while. Some fish do gain some value as they get...

    What do you guys think?

I would not run it with any sponges or pads. Use it empty, or use it for a media reactor. After a short time in a nice running system they can fill up with tube worms and such so high cleaning is a very good idea,

What kind of sponge is this?

Most sponges live in deeper water and do not require light. they usually like good flow and food. Phyto, Marine Snow, Cyclopeze. A older mature tank also has more living things in it we do not see, but helps to feed such animals.
