    propagating zoos

Ive never tried to cut off the heads, i think it will kill them. I have tried to glue individuals to rock and they didnt stick into the glue for long. I have only had sucess with scrapeing off a thin layer of rock and transfering that to the new placement. Otherwise place rocks around the zoos...

Has anyone used Algone in a SPS tank?

Arc, welcome to RF. Glad to have you along. I am in the same boat as krish and have no experience with algone. Natural is the only way to go imo. However sometimes one finds the need to help nature along a little. Im sure someone here at RF has tried Algone and should be able to give you a...

600 Gallon Mixed Reef: Looking for input

Was paging through FAMA the other day and saw an ad for a wavemaker called wave2k. Maybe you have seen it.The web site is www.wave2k.com. Its overkill for my 30g but maybe an idea for yours. I like the wave action and it may give a cool look to the tank. Cant wait to see pics of this thing. Its...

Does anyone ever shut off their skimmer during the week for a period of time?

I skim from about 10:30 pm to 6:30 am when lights are off. This is just personal preferance, my skimmer is kinda noisey, and i dont like looking at the bubbles in my tank. Also by morning im not getting very much skimmate. I figure for my 30g. softies only(except some encrusting sps on the live...

What kind of things do you watch??

Discovery, Science chanel, Food network, spike tv, I also like Lost on wed. and Alias on thurs. Ive found that if the teenagers are making a lot of noise and interfearing with the tv watchin i just have to turn over to sci fi and the room clears pretty fast!

    Splitting Mushroom Coral

rmckn5, Mushroom gettin big is it? Well you can cut it and the pieces will grow into little mushrooms. Check out www.garf.org for pictures and detailed instructions. Propagating is an easy way to turn 1 mushroom into many quickly. I believe you can cut them just like a pizza in 6 or 3 pieces or...

    Box Jellyfish...Most venomous!

With all those nasties its no wonder someone had the bright idea to make Australia a prison colony. Critters to get you on land and if you try to swim for it a whole new bunch to get you in the ocean!

Open to your thought (lighting design)

I have to agree with Kensn. The top pic looks the most practical, with the best coverage, especially down the middle of the tank, where most of your coral probably are. I also like the fact that all the bulbs are the same size, should simplify things.

Can Flow be Created in my tank from....?

If you are splitting your return you might try a SCWD. I use one and it works great. I know some people dont like them. The current switches from side to side in the tank and keeps things sturred up pretty good. I also have a couple of powersweep powerheads. The water moves pretty well and...

    Do you use GFCI?

Scooterman, I have a 30" current with 2 65 watt pc's switched independently and lunar lights. They work great for me. The gfi"s do not trip if i use the cheap 2 prong timers on the lights, only with the 3 prong appliance timers. Its probably the gfi. Its not a circuit from my breaker box, just...

    Do you use GFCI?

I use GFI on my powerhead and skimmer circuit only. My lights are not on GFI. The GFI circuit would trip every time when my timers came on. I guess they don't like heavy duty appliance timers! Anyway it was the timers because i use a different timer on my powerheads and they don't trip the GFI...
