    Formalin bath in low SG?

I shined a 175w halide & used a magnifying glass & finally did see the dusting. I think you're right. It was difficult to see unless they were an inch from the glass. So now I have to figure out a plan of action. First I have to do 100% water change to get out the Prazi. I already have the...

    Formalin bath in low SG?

Wouldn't velvet have shown up by now? This has been going on for over a week? Today is the first day I've seen rapid breathing.

    Formalin bath in low SG?

Boomer, I don't know what is. The only symptoms are loss of appetite, head shaking, & gill scratching. There are no visible parasites & nothing to be seen on a picture. They will look flawless in a picture.

    Formalin bath in low SG?

I don't get it..........they are still doing the head shaking & gill scratching. I raised the salinity back up. I haven't seen a single ich spot. I've been treating prazi-pro for over a week for flukes. I dosed three times & today they are worse than ever. The gills are now starting to be...

    Formalin bath in low SG?

I have 3 C. collare that have flukes. I have them in hypo & also prazi-pro at the moment. I instituted the hypo as I wasn't sure if it was the first signs of ich or flukes. A few days later I added the prazi-pro for the flukes. The fish seem to be getting worse. They have only been in...

Possible New Treatment for Ich within a reef tank

How big is this tank? If it's the 45g noted in that link, you could just lower the water level to a few inches & easily take out all the fish. The fact you don't want to be bothered with doing things right or breaking a few corals to save these fish is the only learning experience anyone can...

How do I get my Cortez angel back in shape?

Thanks Lee, I had been feeding it mostly Formula 1&2 frozen foods. I've switchhed to a homemade recipe recently(last week or so) & that should give him most of what he needs hopefully. He's only with a pair of Maroon clowns & the female is a bit of a witch, but he doesn't seem to mind much...

How do I get my Cortez angel back in shape?

I have a 6" sub adult cortez angel I grew from a 1" juvi. He's developed some minor fin rot & heavier breathing than normal. I'm ashamed to admit this has happened from neglect & him being bullied by a tang in a system I wasn't maintaining properly. He's been shy & timid from day one & this...

    Quarantining multiple Centropgye argi

I'm planning on a tank with pairs, harems & schools. The big problem is some of these fish could change into dominant males or females if housed without the other fish to create the pecking order or heirarchy. You also have to have the ablility to remove bullies, timid fish from the group, an...

    crazy nice Italian tank

I have gotten at least a half dozen corals from my friends Zeo tank & they are all doing fine. Some pieces will color up differently but that's about it. Sps colors vary in many different type systems....so nothing new there either.

Using varied foods for corals, separate or together?

I've noticed this also but it's only on certain species. Some have polyps that are closed all night & only open during the day. In my system I'd say it's about 50/50. I've also noticed the night expansion is most notable at the branch tips. Closed at night--Tort, yongei, pocillepora, millis...

    ZEOvit. Lets talk

My thoughts exactly.........the main nutrition is coming from a secondary source that is dosed. That may also be the reason I see extended/extreme polyp extension in his zeo tank compared to mine on certain corals. I've also seen comments from some zeo users that they lose color when the...

    ZEOvit. Lets talk

From my observations there's seems to be more to zeo than just limiting phosphates & nitrates. I run .02 phosphates in my system & my friend on zeo has the same levels(both tested on my photometer). Nitrates are zero. His corals are a lot lighter than than mine, almost washed out compared to...

    Aluminum phosphate removers

Mike, I've read this on a few recent threads about the subject from reefers. Most notably users of the Bio phos 3 (Al based) that some zeo reefers are using after their reactors to reduce phosphate. I'll post a thread on the zeo forum & ask them to offer some info here. I'm not sure where...

    Aluminum phosphate removers

I'd like to add a small reactor to reduce the phosphate output of my calcium reactor. I read comments recently that the aluminum based removers won't leach any aluminum at the lower effluent ph produced by a calcium reactor. Is this true? If so, at approx. what ph level would this leaching...

A 750g SPS system is born

Sounds like you have everything covered.........my 750 pump has a gray wet end ,but I'm assuming its the same composite material as the new black ones you have. Good to hear they already have the changes in progress. Hopefully this will be the last of the problems for you.

A 750g SPS system is born

Imo, the Sequence Reef Flo pumps have a cheaper wet end than the 750 & 1000 series pumps. Seems they tried to skimp in this area to lower the price of the pumps. Not sure which ones you have, but you may want to upgrade. The cost is minimal & the housing is better. I don't know for sure if...

    My Mojo Special

Thanks guys..........sounds like good suggestions. I was looking for something a bit larger than needed, so if it works I can go with a larger mixing chamber in the future.

    My Mojo Special

I've been following this for a while & am going to give it a try also. I have an ER CS-83 thats 8"x 26" & an old counter current skimmer 6"x38". I'm going to run both with water entering from above in the counter current style. I was thinking of using 1 or 2, 6" stones with the Whitewater...
