Nice work Bolun.

Looks like a lot of people have commented on flow. If it's any consolation, I have 6 Mj1200s, 2 mj600s, 1 big rio return pushing water upwards from the back, and decent size iwaki return pumping water in from my sump All packed into my 55 gallon    I like the suggestions of others about considering a closed loop. If I had to do it over again, I would've gone that route. If you don't mind the look of PVC over the tank, a cheap and less permanent way of doing a closed loop is a calfo manifold over top the tank...

I like how you decided to try bare bottom - I've heard good things about that method. never tried it myself, but heard good things.

good luck with completing the rest of the project.

I thought 7 PH's was bad, but 8?!?! I guess they are hidden behind your impenetrable wall of corals =P

You could also consider a piece of white starboard if you didn't want to do sand. Just an idear... I like the look of white sand though.

Jesss- yeah man, 8 seems pretty rediculous ehh? ah well - I like it

IMO,

you should have sand.....

the ocean doesnt have any BB? ither should you

LOL!! Some of the best looking, easiest maintained tanks are bb...Also, the ocean doesn't have glass around it either nor powerheads so who are we fooling anyways;)

The ocean has glass dood .... all those beer bottles... where do you think they go  .

lol dude...sand is glass...just to tell you..lol so the ocean has TONS of glass just sittin and waiting. i'll try sand again and this time, i'll vaccum it once every 1-2 weeks depending on water changes.

Put some sand in the tank. Krish is just a BB freak or is that just a freak?

I just cant beleave you sand haters..... SAND HATEr'S!

you just gotta have a lotta flow, and not a lot or waste.

hmmmmm

maybe i should be a sand hater to.

LOL!! Sand is cool:cool: You just have to go with what works best for you. Sand, however, would never work in a tank of mine with the flow I usually run:shock:

I have a SSB and it's been very easy to maintain. I have a friend that used to live here in Houston. He had a 210g sps tank. I kid you not his "D"SB was 8" deep.

yes, im planning to vaccum it when i do water change..

Hey Bolun -- if you keep enough flow in there, you may find you don't have to vacuum it. I've never vacuum mine anymore and it stays nice, white, crisp and clean. I have two nassarius, but that's it for critters to stir up the tank. the rest of the stirring comes from the oscilating back & forth current. I've found that when I didn't have much flow in there, I had to vacuum. Just sharing my expeirence in case it helps you. once again - good luck with this project! :)

hmm yea..well i have random flow on one side of the tanks since i have one seio 820 pointing left from right and another mj1200 doing the same so the place they meet, thers like a whirlpool. =? weird...but i will prob still get a largish siphon to keep it super clean. =D hopefully, gettin rock and sand tomrw.
