Okayyyyy. soo as you know i was gonna do a 30 with a 10 sump. but then i have to get an overflow and a return pump...sooo im just like...thats money wasting. (i might add a sump later)

still need to sell all frags and such...need 85$.

so now i decided to do a 40 36*18*16 with an aquaclean filter so i can put macro in there.

I am running sps in this tank so here is the specs:
1. 40 breeder tank
2. aquac remora
3. 250watt 12k reeflux mh (retro, pic is below)
4. rio 800 (300gph, i use this for dead spots behind rock)
5. Seio 1100


Livestock will eventually be:
1. pair of clowns
2. cleaner shrimper
3. barlett anthias

Over a 40 gallon, you might want to have 2 x 250w lights.
I tried a singe DE over my 40 and the ends of the tank were
dim. Over a 30g though a single bulb would work nicely.

I tried a maxi 1200 as a return on a 30g once and it worked just fine.

maybe turn the light so the bulb is opposite of the lengh of the tank... so the reflector has a larger range over the tank. I have heard that can help

beef up that skimmer bolun!!!! especially if your going to do sps and have a sump.
cheapest thing would be to buy an octopus nw 150 and mesh mod it. you could probably sell your remora for $75 - $100 and pay for alot of it.

useing the mag 7 for return, and the cs 90 Overflow...

works great!

you could get away with out a skimmer of anything, with the right setup, and the right amount of LR...

you want to do a export outta the hob?? u will get more result with a sump...

skimmer: yea i will upgrade to a new sump skimmer when i upgrade to a sump..hahah..

burning: how many pounds of lr u got in there??/ my 10g looks like it has almost the same amount as you!. heh

If you want your clowns to lay eggs and try raising the fry... it wont help having the shrimp in there. They will eat the eggs.. If your not... I think it sounds great! Sounds like it will make a great tank! Keep us updated with pics!
