I've decided to upgrade my 12" cube into something a little bigger that would allow more room for my corals and *the biggest reason* more gallonage for another clownfish :bounce:

I chose the size 16x16x12 because its only slightly bigger and would fit in my small studio, but is also is twice the gallonage as my 12" cube. I also like low tanks, which is why I stayed with the 12" height.

I chose to go with an AIO design because I was sick of looking at the heater/aquac in my tank. Its just ugly. Plus my aquac puts out a ton of microbubbles, which I can trap with the configurations of the AIO system. I also incorperated a fuge in the back so I can remove my little AC20 powerfilter and use that wattage to power a mj1200 for the return (better power consumption per unit of flow)

Heres the initial design:

The compartments go from left to right:

1. overflow slots/HOB skimmer pump
[Bubble trap between these two sections]
2. middle section holds 2x heaters and acts as the fuge (thinking about putting a 7000k LED over it)
[underside flow to eliminate further bubbles that make it through the chaeto]
3. far left section is just for the MJ return pump. The locline has a valve in it just incase the mj pushes more than the overflow can pull.

Then I started building the actual AIO section. The false wall is 1/4" black acrylic and the inside baffles are all 3/16" clear acrylic.

IDK why these pics are so small.... how do I change the size of them? I'm using the image code from photobucket.

I just picked up the glass for this build from Perkins glass in capitol hill. I'm not gonna lie, the edges are pretty terrible. I chose the option of just sanded edges because between the two samples of sanded vs polished, I didn't feel that it was worth the 5cents/" the edges seriously look like they were hand sanded and the non cut edges aren't the best either. But although I'm ranting about the quality of the cuts, and their customer service, the glass after all was only 2.50$/sqr ft for 1/4" thickness With sanded edges included in that price. Good thing I'm using black silicone eh? Hahah. At least the cuts were straight. :-S

I'll have a picture of this in a few hours.

Yes the black silicone will help in hiding a lot of the ugliness! LOL

Of course of course, I definitely like the boom of people starting up nano's right now, there seems to be trend going around :)

As for anyone whos interested, I'm looking for 60$ for the tank, stand and a poly carb lid

Alllllrighty, I finally got home today for spring break! I worked on siliconing up the tank, took a long time to tape up since I really wanted nice-ish lines. Here are the pics.

It says 24 hour cure on the bottle, but how long should I wait until I actually water test it?

I stuck the AIO piece in there just so I could see how it looks:

That's cwazy clean work man!!! Really Nice!!! :peace:. On the water test, I wouldn't rush it. It's probably 24 hours under the perfect conditions. I'd go an extra day (me persoanlly) just to be sure and safe. :)

Thanks guys, this morning I did some touch up work and also just put it on the stand for some giggles :)

I'm debating on whether I want to hang my MH lighting..... I've been wanting to do that but haven't had the time to move my current setup.

Great job on siliconing those glass pieces together! The tank looks really clean and well-built.

I don't know about that stand, though.
