Got lucky with the Mandarin, he eats mysis, so he is doing pretty good. He was pretty skinny when I got him, but I can see a slight improvement in his size already. I have been getting pods for him as well, so he is being well cared for

Yes, I've wondered about this (mine does it too). What's going on when the brain swells and then expells water. I guess the expelling is to expel waste products; what is happening during the swollen up periods?

My best guess is they are eating? When I had an anemone it did the same after feeding.
