well i think the algae is just temporary, unless you start doing the moron cycle ... right Krish :D.
I think your salinity is good and if you're checking it with someone else and you got the same results, then you're kewl, but don't trust to much, like Scooter dood said.
I think a hippo tang would be cute and they don't seem to get way way way big, unless i haven't seen the monster hippo :p .

I used calibration fluid to calibrate my probe after I had it in my sump for 4 days. I tested the fluid with a refractometer (because temperature is a determining factor as well.) I am very confidant that my Salinity is very accurate. I get my boss to test my water biweekly.

That's cool I just wanted to throw out some information as sometimes people may get a mislead as to what is good.

OHHHHH!!! Gabby, your sooooo bad! Now I see another fishy I want. Gosh dang I am going to have to sell fish off to see my rock and corals. LOL

Scooterman, I really appreciate the input actually. When people are skimming through threads they may see a few things they may learn from. Every thread is diffrent and it is important to me to have information anyone can use.

The biggest reason I keep my Salinity at that level is because my favorite LFS keeps there corals in that. I quaranteen my fish in 1.020 then slowly raise it to match my display tank.

hey that's a good idea, what about your corals?
have you ever quarantine them, if you get them on line?

I never buy them online. Not that there is anything wrong with it. I just work in the industry and try to help the locals out.

I don't quaranteen my corals. I have full faith in the person I buy from.

What's that "Q" word I keep hearing a lot about???(LOL) I hate to say it, but I've never quarantined anything ever...

Well, you get the freshest fish

LOL...Yeah and besides, I don't quarantine my fish before I eat it so...:p Naw man...I gotta start soon seeing I will be finally popping in things. My tank is kinda bare when it comes to marine life:)

LOL!!! in that case we're three  .
I have never quarantine, but here with corals you should if you don't wanna catch something bad like flatworms or red bugs.

Better late than never to the party, right? :D

What a tank! Great job on this Detri! One concern I have is the bottom front outputs on your closed loop (and the same with my lower outputs)....if something ever happens to your closed loop pump (like a seal breaks and you're not home), the tank water will drain down to that point. I have installed cheap water alarms (from home depot) recently. They will start to go off if something happens to that pump. Hopefully, the pump leak would be slow enough that we'd catch it before all 120 gallons is on the floor.

I'm glad you decided to get rid of the Naso tang. Blue Hippos, IMO, would get to be too large of a size for your tank. Its not so much the gallon, but because you have a 3 foot length to work with. You could do a smaller tang like a Tomini tang. If you have plans to upgrade, the blue hippo might not be so bad, provided you find one that is really small/baby. IMO, tangs need a lot of straight swim room to pick up speed. I would love to have a naso in my tank, but I feel a 6 foot length tank would be better for it (to pick up speed), and I only have a 4 foot length. I have a magnificent rabbitfish, that I love! Very cool fish.

Love the aquascaping! Keep up the good work!

Wow! Thanks Nikki!

I was at the LFS today picking up dry goods. I saw a full grown Blue Tang. I "DO" agree that they get way to big. My Naso is going into a 6'x4' tank at my work. So I won't miss him to much. I have decided to go with more gobies and some sort of schooling fish. Although a Tomini would be nice. I like them. Thanks for the idea.

As for my closed loop bottom outputs. I have 2 check vavles on them. It restricts the flow going through. But I didn't want heavy flow from them anyway. The tank won't drain unless I want it to :) Or it breaks SHHHHHH>>>Not to loud!

That part about something breaking while I'm away for the weekends always scares me!!

ROFL - things breaking while away.....sounds like a chapter in my life!

ROFL!!! Go and check my 75gal thread:lol: I just posted there and said I was going to bump this thread so that you can give us an update and you beat me to it!:p Your tanks is looking great man...That first shot with the tang makes the tank look like it is 6ft tall!!! Looks like it is cycling out well since adding in the LR! Keep up the good work man:)

I have a small algae problem. Mostly a brown slime algae. But is disapearing slowly.

Thanks man, appreciate the comment.
