I plan on releasing the McCoskers wrasses into the main display, so I had to make a splash guard. I bought a couple window screen kits from OSH and used 1/4" clear netting from BRS. I made 3 separate screens for ease of removal.

I love the McCoskers wrasses! I love their color and flash. :) The carpenter wrasses are nice too.

Thanks Rhodes...I need to get them into the main display b/c a fellow reefer is breaking down his tank. He is giving me a mystery wrasse and red filimentous wrasse. :)

NICE! Jim, good to see a few more fish swimmin around in this beast. Great perspective of the size of the LR with your Blueface in the pic. I think we need to see a FTS though.

Cheers, Todd

Sweet!! I was thinking of doing wrasses in the 120 once I get it going but my wife wants some mandarin gobies and I think there would be too much competition between the two for copepods.

I've heard of the same thing, but honestly I haven't seen the wrasses picking off any pods like mandarins do. I hope to get a pair of ORA tank bred red mandarins down the line that eat prepared foods.

Hey Guys IMO/IME there is no real issues in having Dragonets with either Flasher or Fairy Wrasses since they're open water plankton feeders, its the smaller Halichoeres species like 4 & 6-Line, Yellow Coris, Radiant etc... that actively hunt the same substrate. My Radiant will occasionally pick on my Target Mandarin but usually gives up after a few failed attemps to provoke a flight response. Food-wise he prefers a little larger items and basically ignores the tiny pods the Mandarin actively hunts. The larger of the Halichoeres species are definitely to aggressive to mix with Dragonets or Flasher/Fairy Wrasses.

Jim,

Agree with Todd re: wrasse and mandarins....I had a carpenter wrasse and green mandarin in my tank with no issues...

My 6 line and Christmas wrasse loved the pods. I lost both when they were transfered to the 40. Frankie was telling me about the ORA mandarins and says I'd be better off getting them from ORA than a lfs. It will be a while before I get there though. :(

That's good to know. Thanks Todd. :)

The reefclub member who gave me the wrasses and blennie wanted to give me a pair of target mandarins. I obviously had to decline, but a pair of ORA red mandarins are in the future plans. :)
