I have a question regarding the strength of my tank.

It's an AGA 210 with dual overflows.

I live near some train tracks. When some trains go by, it can shake the whole place. My tank has been fine and its certainly not enough of a shake to cause the tank to sway. The rock however, does shake inside the tank. I have a pretty sturdy aquascape. There is no concern of an avalanche, but could the shake weaken the seams of the tank? I would think the tank would have to be rocking to cause this, but could the slight shimmy several times a day be a problem?

TIA for any input. It's appreciated.

don't think so, the seams are under constant strain from the water pressure and the glass would chip or crack before a seam went

when you posted the question I immediately saw one of those apartments in NY where the trains on the ELL go by, made me laugh lol

I have never heard of vibration taking out a seam which is quite durable, but have heard of falling rock blowing out a glass panel. Once had a large channel cat (freshwater) kick a big rock with it's tail against the front of the tank. Blew it out and lost 1/2 of the water (from a 155) onto the living room carpet. Wife had to deal with it as I was out of state.

Any scratch can become a crack with enough force, but typically takes more than water pressure or some vibration...

Hope all is well with you guys.

The RTV tank manf use has a tensile strength of 470 PSI. It is also used as an adhesive in wind tunnel test to secure objects....I think you'll be fine.
