I am putting a 40g in wall tank for soft corals, and still putting the finishing touches on the walls: Drywall, priming the drywall with paint, then finishing with latex interior house paint.
I have not put saltwater in the tank, since I fear the results of the paint fumes, or dropping drywall dust into the tank. Not sure if this is a concern, and I REALLY want to get the tank cycling. Any thoughts? Can one simply cover the tank with plastic for the time the pain is curing?
I have a 10g set up that is cultivating some livesand, and xenia/ mushroom to start/seed the new tank.
Are there concerns about the drywall or paint?
If I place all the goodies from the 10g into the 40g (will have a 30g regium and 5 gal sump also) should the tank be stable immediately or is the recommendation to wait a couple weeks to place the soft coral critters into the tank?
