I've had all my fish for a year and half and none have ever gotten sick. A few days ago I noticed a little white spot on my clownfish, first thought it might be ich, but upon closer inspection it looked more like a very tiny scratch. The next few days the white spot grew just a little and I thought maybe it's healing over or something, but today the spot is much larger and all the white skin/scales are gone leaving a big pink scar/open wound.

Please let me know what I'm dealing with and what steps I should take to treat it.

Thanks, Sculp.

quarnteen? ( spelling) fish if u can and treat with melafix. I think its reef safe too but cannot remember. it says it on the bottle. works wonder with wounds.

The tiny wound is infected. Bacteria gets into a small cut and it goes systemic after awhile. Melafix would work ok, look for anything antibiotic at the pet store.

I would also suggest QT for that particular fish. Melafix might be the way to go, but there also might be an underlying cause to these wounds that melafix won't help with. I'd suggest moving this to Lee's fish disease forum.

I'm not familar with Lee's fish disease forum, and after a quick look through the diffrent forum headings, I didn't notice it. Can you send me a link?

Thanks, Sculp

Can you catch this fish? If so I have a medication that may work really well for you! It is a spot on treatment so you will have to be able to catch him every day or he will have to be in a QT tank. Let me know

does he eat?

qt treat with meds.. and feed...

he will be ok.. if hes ok still

I had a similar situation going on today with my platinum clownfish.

one is dead now and the other has a wound on the side and a paralized fin. covered in clear/white looks like film.

how did you treat your fish? any luck??????

they were both just fine yesterday and eating well.

other fish and corals are all doing good.
