Tank stand (woodworking)

This is a multi purpose 2" stand pipe in the sump. It exits out the back of the stand, through the wall and to the sewer. I serves a few purposes. If the sump were to ever flood the water will just run to the sewer. Its also for water changes. Is also the inlet for the ato system rodi line. Just one less hole and tube hanging in the stand.
There is one line ran back to the rodi system in the laundry room. The solenoid valve and dosing pumps are also in the laundry room. So the same line is used for dosing, rodi top off and water changes. The water changes are easy just start pumping in new water with a peri pump. The new water goes in, overflowing the excess water to the stand pip and out to the sewer.

How in the heck you attach the wood to the acrylic?

What you do is mix weldon #3 or 4 with PL poly. This forces a bond between the PL and the acrylic. You have to mix it and stick it very fast and have lots clamps ready. Thats why it takes so darn long, one piece at a time.

So you had to route out the acrylic where you laminated the wood to it?
Man, that must be some work but by far the nicest looking sump I've ever seen. Go into mass production with these with the continuous overflow & make millions:D
Well probably not but it is that nice!

BTW what is PL?

Well just a quicky. Its still a mess but the sump is plumbed and wired ready for reef stuff. Here I'm sculpting the top, using the thing for a bench since the rest of it is taking up my work bench. I should have been done by now but Ive been anal about the wiring and plumbing.

I had to take a long look to makes sure of what I was seeing LOL!
I really would like to learn more about how you sculpt & scrape wood to the point it doesn't need sanding, that is some really fine work.

Its really just cutting the wood. The shavings are so thin they are transparent. The tool has a very fine bur that is razor sharp. It just takes practice.
