With the magnesium method you want to bring your tanks magnesium levels up to the 1600-1700 range(raising it no more then 100ppm a day), and keep it there till your hair algae goes away. You want to use a liquid magnesium because the dry stuff is full of sulfates, and you have to use a fair amount to get your mag up high enough. My only concern would be your mangroves. I am not sure if they respond as negatively to the mag as the hair algae does. When I did the mag treatment in my tank, my cheato made it through just fine, so it doesn't harm all algae/SW plants necessarily, but I couldn't say one way or the other for the mangroves.

the only product that worked for me was Kent Tech M...and you will have to use alot of it...
:)

Ok,so just got done with nuking the hair algae. What I did was in a 30 gallon bucket filled it with fresh water and dumped 2 16 oz bottles
of peroxide in then, then I took all the rock infested with it,put them in,let sit for 1hr,then scrubbed one by one. I'm going to be leaving my main lights
off for a week, then do a water change.

Also had to chane the rock work a little

Ohhhh, power washed would probably do wonders. My dad had one of those small steamer power washers, would nuke em good. Ahhh I do now that I took a second look. How you liking it.

rothany,

do you have any pics of the tank after you cleaned up the algae?

IME, it might take anywhere from 3-6 months before things settle down, so be patience with HA and keep up with the WCs.
