K...Here's the real reason why I don't have one because as you know, I had one setup, DIY'd and just waiting on rock that took so long that I ended up selling the tank to a buddy that was bugging me for it and that's when I said I'd take the opportunity to get something different. Quite honestly, wasn't really feeling that tank anyways. However, before I got a chance to get another tank, I got in that accident and irriated two already bad herniated discs I've been trying to mend for the past 2 years in an effort to avoid surgery. I also fractured a rib in my back. Well, here I am fast forward 8 months later and still having back issues off and on so I had to buy a gym set to see if that will work a bit by strengthening my body a bit more. I've done everything from physiotherapy, cupping, epidurals, accupuncture, massage therapy etc etc and so this is all that is left so I have been working out after work for about 1-1.5 hours each day with only one day break. Then my son (18 month old) has speech therapy two-three times a week after I get home from work as well which I have to fit. My wife thinks he has an "issue" but that's another story. Then there is my almost 5 year old (Tuesday she'll be 5) that has become more than a handful recently so between being exhausted from work all day and coming home to deal with her, spend time with my family and doing all I need to do, there is hardly any time left to do anything much else. So the time I'd use to do a tank the way I would want it, is not there right now. If I don't get this back in shape, I have to either find a different career path or have surgery and there is no way I can do that. My family and my job demands too much of me to be off of work and out of commission for a minimum of 3 months so the tank could wait. :)

Krish, you probably have a big tank next to you, the atlantic ocean, just stick your head under water. At least that was the way it was when I was in the Navy, in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

tisk tisk, your just trying to make us feel bad now! :D

Misson accomplished??? :p

LOL!! All I need is a pair of goggles and I'm set!! Hope to go in the boat this weekend. Been wanting to go all summer and if I do...PICS!!:D

If you dont correct your back problem soon it WILL affect your family in the long run. It may be better to do it sooner than later. I understand you think you cant deal with three mo, off now, but will you be able to deal with it in a week? 2 weeks? 4 weeks, 2 mo.? 6 mo.? 1 year. Nobody has all the answers, But you do understand your family needs you healthy.

OK I am done Preaching. You must take care of yourself before you can take care of others. Just like on the pre flight info says " Put your oxygen mask on yourself before you help others"

As for your tank. Just grab your mask, snorkel, and fins and have a swim.

Thanks Peppie! I agree with you on the surgery part (better now than later), but the fact that I got rid of all of the nerve pain and was doing great before the accident is the reason why I'm holding off trying to get back to that point. Doctors told me I needed to exercise and I kept putting it off and finally I gave in and started and I'm really happy that I did with the results I'm getting. The accident was what put me back a bit, but I'll get there. Definately if this doesn't work I will have to bite the bullet and do it, but I see the light at the other end of the tunnel so will wait it out. There are a lot of risks with the surgery all the way to being worse off to it not even helping so it's a last resort. :)

Yea all of that super long sad story but he's going out on the boat! No time my hump!:boxing:

LOL!! I can't help the fact that I live in the Bahamas :p

can't blame a man for having a conscience lol

:D

It's that just part of your everyday chore list? When you live in a tropical paradise?

I wish!! Would love to retire and go out in the boat all day, but I have many years ahead of me befor that will happen!! I'm only 34!! I need to win the lotto!! :p

Krish,

Not a party pooper, just a realistic. My wife hates it when I point out the obvious. :)

Doctors told me I needed to exercise and I kept putting it off ...
Now we're back to my suggestion. Take it easy, and just carry two gallons of saltwater back each day (two, one-gallon containers so you don't twist your back).
That is a 20% water change everyday for a 10-gallon tank. You won't need any filters, etc. ...

 That's looking at it in a positive way!

Ok, well I got Krish all fired up here lol, I know he like most of us have lots going on in their lives, I have my share I know. So I guess we can let it go for now but I'm sure his kids would love to watch their daddy build a reef tank one day!:tape2:

Sounds like guilt setting in . J/K. For those that voted never you lose:p. I will get another one up soon. Definately the kids will love it. My wife would be a different story depending on how much I mess with it lol.

So peer pressure is a serious thing (thank you Scooty):laser:. My buddy is on vacation for about another week and when he gets back I will have him order my tank. There is one I had checked on (not a standard tank we are use to buying) but told him to hold off when I got into the accident. When he gets back I'll have him order it and post a photo of it when I get it with this dude --->:p <--- sticking his tongue at you! It will be a very slow build because of what I have going on and want this to be a one shot deal. Get it done right from the start so I don't have to re-do anything wishing it was another way. Already a bit excited! Most I can say about the tank is it is a perfect cube made out of glass. :)

That is a great start. Bit by bit. One day at a time
We are just as excited for you. This will be a great build to watch. Just let me know when you are going to send me a plane ticket so I can assist in the stand build. lol

Haha Peppie!! You'll be surprised at just how good I can build. I've built all my other stands and canopy's. I think you are just looking for a free trip to the Bahamas:lol:

Thanks Lorrie and Peppie. I have a hurricane to worry about first. It's supposed to be a category 3 by the time it gets here which means winds in excess of 125 mph . If you guys don't hear much from me after Wednesday that means the hurricane took out my Internet service provider.
